Welcome to my Steam profile! :starite:

‎‏‏‎ ‎:t_down: :t_down: :t_down: :t_down:

I'm a sporadic achievement hunter. I will never use SAM, cheats, auto-clickers, bots, scripts or macros. I will also never use mods or console commands unless it is needed for an achievement. All achievements are earned by me; I do not boost my time played.

This is my ONLY steam account! It has 5,200+ Games, it is Level 135+ and I've been a member since 28 November, 2011.

I gave permission to Fragsworth (Clicker Heroes developer) to use my name in his game and he did!

Castle in The Darkness is an RPG platformer with a very vast world. Sadly, it is truly unforgiving.

I'll start this review right away by mentioning that the game is filled with insta-death spikes, traps and cheap mechanics. There are many instances in which you will kill a boss or complete a very hard platforming session only to be welcomed by a death-trap. There are even a few rooms in the game where you die as you enter the room/press a switch...

Now, if you're still here after this, well congratulations, you might have just found your new game! Onto the good aspects of this game... First of all, the awesome, awesome soundtrack! It's a huge chiptune OST with very memorable songs and it is easy to see that the composer has spent a lot of time spent composing those! The graphics are very nicely done in a pixelart style.

There's a bunch of items and weapons and armors to collect, most of them have special abilities and there's tons of secret rooms with game references and/or very powerful rewards. No one's playthrough will be the same for their first times. Speaking of this, one small piece of advice, without spoiling anything at all... When you get the double-jump powerup, please, be aware that you are able to reach a lot of new places in the old/new zones you will discover! I have personally almost reached the final boss with minimal gear as I was not finding new upgrades because I did not go back after getting the double-jump powerup!

What more to say... well the game is very hard for once. There are many checkpoints, but rarely are they after boss-rooms! You can and will die a few times after beating bosses by going through difficult zones in order to find a checkpoint. They are quite sparce in the later parts of the game.

Now, back to a bit of... displeasing things about the game. There are no mini-maps. Some secrets (which are required in order to 100% the game) are very, very hard to get as they require very specific methods. You need a lot of wit and puzzle-solving abilities and a good sense of observation and being good at deciphering text in order to get some of the best items.

So overall, it is a very good game, albeit being rage-inducing due to cheap death mechanics... I would recommend this game to platformer adepts and people who enjoy a good retro challenge.

As for the game length, obviously very dependant on skills, it takes a good 5 hours to complete the game. Around 10 hours if you want to complete the game with 100% achievements/items. More if you want to replay NG+ or the secrets levels that you unlock during the game.

2024 Challenge: One 100% a day.
Alright, so here's how I challenged myself in 2024 and I want to note down of all my self-limitations!

From the 1st of January 2024 to 31 December 2024, I have:

Started on the 1st of January and completed Elden Ring to 100% completion before the year's end.

Started on the 1st of each month and completed 1 'big' game every month, (Fossil Corner, Purple Place: Classic Games, Archvale, Tesla Force, Garden Story, Hustle Cat, The Last Campfire, Hexcells Plus, Here Comes Niko!, Weird RPG, Lazy Galaxy and Forager!)

Started and completed 1 perfect game a day, (List below.)

So, I have successfully completed 366 perfect games total in a year (Yep, it had to be a leap year!)

The rules I set for myself were:
No SAM/cheats/auto-clickers/bots/scripts/macros/mods/console commands/help/sharing... etc.

The games were not started by me previously (they were all launched for the first time) and I obviously had no time previously in any of them prior to this challenge. I did not earn a single achievement on any other game during the challenge. I did not play any restricted games, profile feature limited games, early access games, free games or any 'achievement spam games' with over 500 achievements. I stopped playing every game at the moment of completion. I wrote a review for every single game.

The goal of this was to see if I could stick to something so strict and while I did, it was also for one very specific purpose: getting out of the 'achievements only mindset'. I made sure this challenge was as restrictive and annoying as possible, to prevent me from making the same mistake in the future. I will most likely always care and love unlocking achievements, but I am done caring strictly for them. I played a lot of games without achievements during the year and I enjoyed them.

I ended this challenge by playing 'What Comes After' and I frankly have the answer to that right here: nothing similar to what '2024 gaming' was for me. Next year I'm starting whatever games I want and playing to whatever extent I feel like. I'm not going to start removing games with broken achievements or avoiding them because 'it will ruin my average completion rate', honestly no one gives a ♥♥♥♥ about that. Probably no one gives a ♥♥♥♥ about this text either, but I'm writing this for myself. I am done holding back from starting 'daunting games to 100%' and the achievement system on Steam is extremely poor anyways. No matter how good you are, broken games, removed games and what not will eventually brick your perfect profile. Matter-of-factly, this challenge in itself will be bricked the second ANY of those 366 games adds a single achievement… this supports my write-up wonderfully if I may add!

So the moral of this lengthy text is just: play for fun, otherwise you're going to miss out on fantastic games from unjustified self-limitations. If you avoid a game forever because it's going to ruin a temporary number on your profile, that you can't prove was attained legitimately in the first place and that yet again, probably no one cares about, good for you! I won't anymore.

Happy New Year's and hopefully everyone has a wonderful 2025 and beyond!
