if you're looking for a megaman experience, this isn't it.

take the already reasonably simple megaman/rockman formula and further simplify it and... you get this.

its boring. different variations of timing jump and shoot this shoot that with little sense of progression. the only thing good is its free and a good enough time waster if you are supremely casual about your games. otherwise not worth the download time and space even if its free.

i think its sad if the devs think this is what 80s megaman games were like. the timing puzzles and challenges in the old megaman games weren't hamstrung by a silly always forward facing mechanic (limitation). megaman could actually turn and walk the other way... also climb ladders.

this game makes mecha break look very very good. go get mecha break when it comes out. more fluid movement, still free to play, gundam like mecha are there and there's better customizability

this game will punish you for playing it worse than helldivers 2 is doing right now

the game itself is a very rough diamond. the main problem is sony is screwing with arrowhead

change the forced requirement for PSN and we'll come back

game needs a lot of support. for some reason all the players just upped and left which is a shame cos i played this and it was a pretty good alternative to R6 siege.

Pros
- reasonably priced
- same siege experience
- has AI training modes
- seems to run well on average hardware
- has deeper tactical planning than siege
- has better tactical options than siege

Cons
- players where?
- AI basically aimbots at the moment but can be disabled by flashbangs
- no servers beyond USA and euro
- gunplay can be clunky at times

can't in good conscience recommend this at the moment.... maybe if they launched fully and did a marketing push to get players then maybe i can recommend it. i was the only player online bout 20 minutes ago... so yea. A few free weekends would definitely help.

don't listen to the positive reviews. the game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trash. the only reason it has a place is because hi-rez's paladins done ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and your other alternative is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ p2w OW2

you still have day 1 server issues. this has not been resolved, merely mitigated. yes, you will still get random crashes and disconnects. this means you'll not be able to rejoin the game at all even if you want to. then, the game will call you a "leaver" and punish you for something beyond your control. this is normally being unable to join another game in the meantime. this can potentially drag on for as long as 15 minutes depending on how useless your team or the enemy team is.

there is no "ranked" battle even though the option is there. so, completing achievements is impossible. it appears the players are generally self aware enough that the game is a steaming pile of ♥♥♥♥ to not even bother with ranked. at this stage, there is no way for the devs to salvage this and expect it to work, barring a very generous reward programme and actually fixing the disconnect issue. take it off and rework your achievements.

matchmaking remains broken. at this point, the game is old enough to have veterans. veterans, you will be paired with the absolutely most pathetically noob pieces of ♥♥♥♥ who have no idea what any of the buttons or MS will do. noobs, you will be paired with other noobs and get continually stomped till you uninstall. at no point, does matchmaking even attempt to pair people up based on their ranking and evening it out accordingly. it seems to randomly pick whoever is matching at the time and dumping you together. so, forget the "matchmaking algorithm" or "MMR" there doesn't seem to be any. if there is, it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unnoticeable in its effect. additionally, it is also highly possible to keep playing the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ map 3 times in a row, making even your defeats highly monotonous. so, yes, you should in fact alt+F4 because it speeds up the game for everyone.

map designs. they are terrible. even with a straight coloured line as a guide, the desire to explore is there, so expect to get lost frequently. maps don't flow at all, so it is possible to wind up cornering yourself 80% of the time. it is also possible for noobs to wander off to other parts of the map where there is no activity and for them to not realize this isn't the frontline. one map has a singular choke point with no alternative routes around for more dynamic gameplay. in most other maps, pathways tend to end or turn randomly.

unit designs are.... ok for most of the part. its the only good thing about the game.

except, the GM sniper is cancer for both attacking and defending teams because of its design. it cannot fight up close and so must always be in the back lines, poor map design means 80% of the time, snipers have no LOS and cannot affect battles unless near them, which puts them at grave risk. their kit means they're to sit back and shoot or rez but there aren't enough open spaces for them to be of any use or support. this means any time there is a sniper on your team, your team has a drastic drop in firepower due to the 6v6 nature of the game. it should either be removed or reworked to have a viable mid range weapon, the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ head vulcan is fired once and then needs a cool down, that's NOT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ viable in the situations it frequently finds itself in. if you're a GM sniper main, you are an active cancer in the game and everyone deserves to hate you.

also, there is no true hard counter to both melee zaku and marasai.

marasais function like pudge's hook; more often than not, when you get hooked, you will die. there is no avoiding that unless you are either very far away or you've wisely decided to run away or uninstall your game.

melee zaku is highly tanky with an invul skill. it even has a ranged function. the cancer comes from the ult, which when paired with the other abilities, is almost impossible to stop. a veteran melee zaku will normally wipe out your team.

also, these units are locked unless you've whaled for them or grinded for them, meaning yes, this is very much pay2win.

the UI design is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and you can see from the main menu that the game was likely meant to go on a handphone and not PC.... which should tell you how much the devs really care about you.

Another major "quirk" about the game is how "minimal" it is. the devs actively refuse to give you important info and only through severe levels of trial and error do you begin to understand how the game works. no, the basic tutorial is just that. basic. it doesn't go into the "archetypes" of the MS, it doesn't go into how the game modes work. the devs actively refuse to give you basic info such as how some units are dedicated flankers or even how some of the ults work, the F1 info only gives you so much. hell, they don't even tell you which currency is which and this is an f2p game. kind of like the devs don't want you to whale ironically enough.

speaking of whaling. there is an ironic lack of quality of life in the UX. the game has a gacha / loot box system. yet it refuses to allow you to open more than 1 "capsule" at a time. so, have fun clicking and waiting for each stupid animation to finish.

boring customization. personally, the skins for all the units are incredibly bland. the base colours are fun but the "purple grades" are generally boring. all they have are a few extra painted lines on them and the premium skins generally look atrocious. none of them give a proper MS vibe that you'd get from the animes or even gunpla builder, instead everything looks like CS GO skin. even the "camo" skins don't cover the entire unit.

the "challenge" system is broken and stupid. for the "beginner" challenges, you will never be able to complete them because nobody is playing ranked. currently, one of the challenges is to join ranked, go figure. the "challenge" system is also stupid because it forcibly locks you into a few MS which may not be suitable for the current situation you find yourself in. and because there is so little info, we have no idea if selecting and playing with a different unit after that will count or not count to your challenge. also bearing in mind it is currently impossible to pick more than one of the same unit, it is also highly possible all the units may have been picked, leaving you unable to complete your challenges. this is especially true for popular units. add to this the relatively short "season" and you have an incredibly grindy game.

another incredibly ironic issue is the lack of "gacha capsules". at the moment, there is only one. you would think there would be significantly more in order to entice whaling. so, even this is a failure. where is the content?

even if you've played hero shooters before, i do not recommend this game. the only reason i continue playing it is because its free, it has gundam and i've gotten used to the idiocy. i would instead recommend apex legends

i can maybe recommend this once they've:

1. stabilized the servers... like actually fix it or otherwise remove the useless "penalty" system
2. fixed matchmaking or just admit there is no matchmaking system
3. changed the UI design so it actually works better on computers
4. removed ranked because nobody is playing it and update all challenges accordingly
5. added a "vs AI mode" cos i'm tired of games being ruined by noobs

terrible. this game is like when a new artist finds all the special effects filters on photoshop and just went ham with it. the screen shakes from the smallest of enemy explosions.... so what happens when there's a really big boss exploding?

i can sum up the game as misprioritized info overload while trying to act smart. you don't get really enough info on how and where your ship is or how it works or more importantly, what counts as enemies, enemy bullets or obstacles. you don't fully understand how the levels and the bosses work because they keep getting randomized. however, the game will tell you something cool is happening because the screen shakes and then you kind of go blind from all the particle effects, screen shake and whatnot. basically, the visual cues are a mess and the cool explosions clog the screen.

the game goes at such a breakneck pace because it wants to and so most of the time you're left wondering what the ♥♥♥♥ is even going on at this stage. game pretty much does whatever it wants and you're forced to tag along. you could probably play for several hours to figure out what the game's doing but if it willingly withholds the info, its probably not worth your time. kind of wish they spent more effort on the user experience instead of playing minmax with the saturation and light values. visually, the game is somehow minimalist yet decides to cram all sorts of special effects in for no reason.

if you're looking for a shmup experience, look for a game that emulates the older classic styles like strikers or dodonpachi, cos this ain't it. let's not get started on the narrator voice either.

- visuals overload where it is detrimental to gameplay
- game moves so fast and so fluidly you're kind of almost always trying to figure out what's going on, so its highly disorienting. getting flash banged 50 times is probably less disorienting.
- game randomization works against it because you're expected to play the game for several hours in order to become used to some of the "quirky" enemies they throw at you but they may spawn enemies in different locations just to screw with you
- generally, extremely bad first player experience
- narrator voice reminds you of british spongebob in a really bad way
- too minimalist, so you really lack the important info on how some mechanics work, you also have no idea what you're shooting at sometimes because everything is black coloured

+ can be fun when you've gotten some of the basics down.... before the game decides to shake the screen for no reason
+ you can turn the narrator voice off
+ ... has potential if they could get some form of informational structure and give the player a bit more info in terms of visual cues and reduce the effects overload

RTS with "creative" "faction builder" done completely poorly. Limited tech tree, limited chassis/body components to choose from, limited weapons apart from the main gimmick weapons like flamethrowers or missile launchers. there really isn't much to actually change the overall performance of a vehicle besides changing the weapons or movement type. its more of a single faction with multiple small variations rather than being able to actually make a uniquely tuned faction. it lacks the depth and nuance needed to make the "creative" part really work and is oversimplified to the point it doesn't feel that fun or revolutionary. i have replaced the machinegun with a missile launcher. wow, revolutionary!

the "campaign" mode is a joke and so is the voice acting and story. a lot of the game feels like it was ripped out of 8-Bit armies and just copy pasted but somehow made worse. the game also really doesn't like telling you when your harvesters, units or base is being attacked and when it does, the warning comes about 5 minutes too late to do anything about it. harvester AI is pretty daft since they'll all clump together at a single resource node rather than go elsewhere. seems to be a holdover from 8-bit army in that regard.

if you want a game that let's you make your own vehicles i would recommend either crossout or if you still want it to be a strategy game, Endless Space 1 or 2.

time to downrank this game... a lot.

used to be good. used to be an actual alternative to overwatch. no longer so. pay 2 win update is coming in, check update OB64.

additionally, seems to have some graphic lag issues during certain ults.

its reasonably well made, has a good story and its a point and clicker... not much to go wrong with this mix. some issues with the animation in that looks a bit choppy and made in flash here and there. good music with some quirky characters make for a good and unpredictable storyline. feels a bit too short though...

7/10
