This is no Zaku, pal, this is my favorite competitive shooter game! It's now being shut-down because of corporate greed and a poor F2P model. I just want to put this review here to remind everyone that this game may have been horribly marketed and had bad micro-transactions that limited the gameplay, but it was a really fun and good game. Yes, matchmaking was a horror. Yes, the ranked scene was DOA. Yes, even the new units were locked behind a paywall. Even with that, there wasn't any other shooter that compared in my eyes.

Every match felt like a real battle between a group of pilots and it was a lot of fun. Sometimes the balance was a little off, and sometimes it felt a bit cheap, but the core concept kept the game afloat for me. Some of the maps were awesome and will be forever burned into my memory. Rushing to diffuse the bomb and pulling it off was a great rush of endorphins. Every new mobile suit release got me excited to jump in and try it out.

I'm not big into multiplayer games or online competitive experiences anymore, but this one had staying power for me. It brought people together and reinvigorated the franchise by exposing new fans through a genre that just makes sense to match it. I met some cool and interesting people, and I had some really great matches that now can only live on through clips.

As a Gundam fan, and as a fan of the game, the dissolution of the games servers are a genuine shame and will be missed. I loved Gundam Evolution, and I'll never forget it. Thank you everyone for playing with me, and I hope that maybe someday we can have fun like this again. Until then, "There are things we must do while we're still alive.
