Not as good as Origins. But still good.

Has timed quests. Doesn't tell you the quests are timed. Doesn't even make logical sense for the quests to be timed. ♥♥♥♥ off.

Update 1 removed the timer on these quests and even retroactively awarded the rewards to people who already exceeded them. Thank you, devs!

I don't care how arachnophobic you are. This game will make you love spider bros.

"Windows 10 version 1090 (build 18363 7 codenamed 19H2 / November 2019 update) is required to run this application"

The game could at least have the decency to actually stop when this happens instead of forcing me to use Task Manager to kill it.

Two year old game, unlikely to get many more patches. Two CTDs and one freeze requiring task manager intervention in less than 1.5 hours of gametime. Awesome.

EDIT: Turns out turning off DX12 seems to fix these crashes.

I followed Dan Floyd's advice after 13 minutes of his video and stopped watching to buy this, even added the Monstercat Bundle. The music is awesome, the presentation great and based on the first few levels and subsequent boss I was absolutely ready to recommend this to some friends to try and get some co-op going.
Unfortunately I was then, pumped from beating the boss and anticipating the next level, thrust into a 2+ minute unskippable cutscene that requires user input every now and then so you can't even tab out and let it do its thing in the background. I don't know how long this cutscene actually is, I noped out via ALT+F4 (you can't even get to the menu while it's happening) after two minutes of being bored and frustrated. What the ♥♥♥♥?
Alright. So the story mode sucks. That's not what games like this are about anyway, right? Checking out the other modes I was greeted with this[i.imgur.com]. Unless you want your "party" mode to cycle through the same three levels (the two tutorial levels and the boss fight) over and over you're forced to play the story. What the ♥♥♥♥?
And the story is the only thing you can't play co-op. Because of course it is.
And why can you do local co-op with up to four controllers, but not with one controller and a keyboard?

I don't know the answer to any of these questions. But I know that they were enough to change me from being hyped and happy about this awesome new game to utterly frustrated about the idiotic design decisions that went into it in less than half an hour.

I would gladly recommend this game. Unlock the songs for other modes from the get-go and make the cutscenes skippable and I'll edit this review to positive in a heartbeat.

Titles that would be more representative of the actual game:
  • "Just Shapes, Beats & boneheaded design decisions"
  • "Just Shapes, Beats & overly long, unskippable cutscenes"
  • "Just Shapes, Beats & oops, forgot to telegraph that attack"
  • "Just Shapes, Beats & hope you're not planning a party before unlocking the songs in story mode"
  • "Just Shapes, Beats & no way to make custom levels with your own songs"
  • "Just Shapes, Beats & 25 seconds of logos *ding*"

0/10 - No Mad Cat. Is this even a Mech game without a Mad Cat?
With Jordan Weisman[www.sarna.net] and Mitch Gitelman[www.sarna.net] on the team you probably can't deny that (inb4 "It takes place before the Clan invasion, a Mad Cat wouldn't make sense).

Stay away if you get frustrated at your X-Com soldiers missing 80% shots. In this you're not only hoping to hit, but hoping to hit the correct part of the enemy as well. Good luck not accidentally destroying that Mech you want to salvage.

BATTLETECH isn't perfect, but unless you want to go through the trouble of getting Mech Commander 2 (the better Mech strategy game) working it's the best you're going to get.

Honestly, after a few hours I had to re-install MechWarrior 3 because that's the best Mech game and every other one just makes me want to play that one.

So, recommended for being good enough to make me go on an extended nostalgia trip and replay two of the best games of the late 90s and early 2000s.
