I'm pretty neutral about the game. I think the problem is that I played Elden Ring first. Had I played DS3 then ER I'd probably like DS3 more. Mostly I hate not having a map. The controls are clunky too, especially having to hit R3 to jump but only while running. Ultimately I chose to refund it 90 minutes in.

There is much to unpack here. less than 2 hours on a first playthrough should net you somewhere in the high wall or Undead settlement. The entire game is very linear so a map is wholly unnecessary and every area is a traditional level so a map wouldn't even be all that helpful. Every single level is go from point A (level entrance) to B (Boss room) and kill boss while collecting items and killing enemies along the way. theres only occasional branching pathways mostly contained within a single area like the undead settlement has about 3 different pathways that all loop back to the boss room. The Jump controls are entirely optional for completing the main game and only lets you reach a handful of items. Jumping is not needed to get to any boss or access any area. other than that the controls are virtually identical to elden ring.

You can rebind the controls you know lmfao.

Also clunky? ehhhhhhhh if you want clunky play Dark Souls 2. Dark Souls 3 is the least clunkiest out of all 3.
