I'm not too far in, but I couldn't be happier.

As someone who played the original geneforge on realone arcade, i'll except people saying im bias.

This is the second installment of the Geneforge's remake series. You are an apprentice for the mighty Shapers, those who sculpt life and hoard over others with their wisdom and power. Your arrival to appraise a falling colony is quickly turned from a simple task to one of mystery, espionage, and power.

The thing about Geneforge for me has always been the story telling. A real choose your own adventure where choices matter for the end. I feel the games have always challenged you on your values, because there's always a carrot being dangled in front of your character to join a faction you might be completely apposed. The beliefs of faction might become null and void because of a cruel act that was done by its leader that you can't forgive.

The gameplay is also a chance to challenge yourself. While no region is locked out for a type of play style, there are areas you are very unlikely to clear if you got a certain build and that's okay. Pick the locks, convince the guards to let you through, brute force your way. Is your power in your creations, your magic, or your metal?

Geneforge 2 is an isometric rpg that allows you to control your character and your characters creations in an action point based combat. The builds for your character and party are near limitless and there's no one way to succeed in combat or in progression. The remake expands on the originals plot lines, brings the gameplay to modern day with quality of life adjustments as well as balancing with tinkered old mechanics and new ones.
