Full replay done, and I so wish I had a mixed recommendation button.
My opinion: Get it on sale. Its good. Its even great. But its best days appear to be far behind it.
My reasoning-
The good:
+The core game is so satisfying.
+The worlds a pretty.
+It sets up a very vague but interesting story...

The bad:
-Stupid cash shop COMPLETE with FOMO time limited packs. Suits are $10+ EACH as well
-Game saves every time anyone gets in any vehicle which in any game file a decent way into the game will lag the poor host for up to 3 seconds, every, single, time. The devs have been begged for an option for this for years, they have done nothing about it.
-Multiplayer, despite being a massive selling point for the game, has some massive netcode issues. Dieing from fall damage while walking occasionally, position desyncs constantly, and day night desyncs often.

The ugly
!No new planets or story elements have been added in years.
!Updates are PAINFULLY slow and will always include more crap on the cash shop
