Aesthetically stunning and creepy. The unique face feature is weird but compelling, the plot is very interesting, and the ARG elements are really well implemented. I find the gameloop to be a bit boring after a while, you kinda need to replay the same path with minor differences to achieve different endings. Also is worth noting how this game is heavily inspired by David Lynch's works, in a way that so many characters, scenes and sound editings are straight out of Twin Peaks. If you're not a fan, you'll still enjoy the game, but I, as a big fan, found the constant references a bit much.

Fun HOG, although the first one is better. The overall design and graphics of 'Song of the Dark Swan' is inferior, the plot is not bad but the pacing is a bit weird, I did not connect with it as much. The animations are very clunky too. The puzzles are still fun, not too difficult, I'd say on the same level as the first one. I'd recommend it on sale.

Very fun novelty game. Like, what to expect from a game with this premise? Probably not much. It doesn't take itself seriously, it's a way better 'Goat Simulator', with decent platform segments, a few puzzles and a good amount of collectibles.

The overall design of the game and the many different 'areas' are great, it's a bit barebones but for an indie project it has a decent open-world, mostly lacking some sound design. I dislike the bosses but well it's not like there are a bunch of them anyways. I played with graphics on High and the performance was fine, the game itself is one big glitch from time to time but it feels a lot more like it was a design choice more than anything else (hence the Goat Simulator comparison).

Overall, the word here is fun, I had a lot of fun, the squirrel is super cute, it's not a fantastic game by any means and I'd maybe recommend to wait a sale to get it (it's a bit short), but I don't really regret buying full price.

Timeless and gorgeous point-and-click adventure game. The first Syberia introduces perfectly the universe of the series: a dark, mechanical and retro replica of Earth that seems, at the same time, realistic and surreal.

The environments of this game are incredible, from industry buildings with cute automatons to beautiful natural landscapes. The atmosphere created by the visual and aural elements is very effective and it's hands down the best aspect of the game. The voice acting is also very good.

The narrative utilizes a good duality, exploring the protagonist's life on her trip and outside of it through phone calls. You want to focus on Kate's journey, but you're constantly reminded of more usual real life constants, like your job or your relationship. It's interesting how it all starts with a simple task from Kate's boss, but suddenly the deep dive into the life of the Voralberg family and everything surrounding Hans Voralberg changes Kate's thoughts on how to live her life, and what is really worth it. The buildup to finally fulfilling your main task (to find Hans) is fantastic, even though the pacing of the game could be a bit better.

Syberia is not perfect gameplay-wise, with so many glitches since it's 20+ years old now, and I find some puzzle loops to be quite boring, but overall it contains no moon logic which I appreciate a lot. The long animations are annoying sometimes, although if you're used to playing old point-and-click games then it's completely fine. I thought the game was longer, but it really is not, you can totally finish it in under 10 hours, which is a perfect playtime.

Overall, I loved this game and I'm excited to continue with the franchise, it's a lovely experience and I recommend a lot especially if you're into old point-and-click adventures.

So, after playing Escape From Lavender Island, I decided to dive into the other games by Jeremy Couillard, which are basically AlienAfterLife, Fuzz Dungeon and JEF. I thought that some people might do the same, so I'm leaving this commentary here that JEF was my favourite out of the 3. Of course, none of them have the length or depth of Lavender Island because they are way smaller projects, but it's a fun time if you enjoy the very unique artstyle and psychedelic designs.

JEF is an adventure game with platform elements and a very interesting narrative, the minigames are cool and the extras are pretty fun to do. I liked how it incorporated the critique to capitalism, it's an obvious satirization but effective, and how it explored depression in a relatable and clever way, always oddly funny. Technically, it is clearly bad optimized and a bit unpolished, but completely reasonable since it's one of Couillard's first games. Overall, I recommend it and the pricing is perfect for a small indie game.

A brilliant and unique take on a horror roguelite. It takes the best aspects of a roguelite - the massive replayability and different builds - and mixes it with an interesting story-driven game, creating a perfect hybrid that feels like a usual adventure game from time to time but with a twist.

The game is divided by chapters, once you advance a chapter you can't go back, and there's a loop mechanic (hence the roguelite). If you die you'll lose every item that is not permanent and the map will 'shuffle' itself, but you easily can do a deathless run if you're careful, the game is pretty generous, giving you so many tools to help you.

The combat itself is super fun, it's very reminiscent of a soulslike with the dodges and attack patterns, there's a bunch of different status to get used to, and sometimes you'll be able to adapt and cheat bosses by abusing your gadgets. You can do a mage build and invoke a bunch of guards while burning everything, you can do a poison build and slowly watch enemies die, you can do a melee build and bleed enemies to death, you can do a projectile build and shoot everything. The possibilities are great and they all feel powerful once you get the strongest strategy and upgrade the right attributes.

The main plot of the game is a bit convoluted but I enjoyed it, the characters are very likeable, there are tons of plottwists too. There are 4 different endings, a good amount of side quests and the game rewards exploration with special items and bits of lore. It's definitely a horror game too, some segments are at least spooky and all of the designs are gruesome, enemies vary from zombies-like, monsters and even ghosts.

The visuals may seem a bit dated, but I enjoy it a lot because it reminds me of old PS2-era games like Haunting Ground. The sometimes janky feel of the game seems to fit on this aesthetic too. The sound design is awesome and the soundtrack works a lot creating this oddly specific vintage dream-horror atmosphere.

I cannot recommend this game enough, it's very fun and way too underrated. It's not that kind of game that'll change your life, but it's a memorable quality time with lots to offer.

An awesome addition to the base game. I was a bit skeptical when they announced that the DLC would be divided in 3 parts, but this worked perfectly. The first part is an ode to the first game, exploring a 'new' mechanic using lasers, very fun even if a bit hard. The second part is my favourite, it's like an extension of the base game, with medium difficulty puzzles utilizing all the mechanics learnt and all the characters interacting again, very relaxing and lovely. The third part is more suited for hardcore puzzlers, it takes place in an interesting part of the main plot and contains very hard puzzles. I myself find some puzzles of the third part way too convoluted/hard for my taste, but I'm glad it's there for whoever likes more extreme difficulty.

A nice cozy experience. The art is beautiful, the voice acting is very fitting, the plot is interesting, everything visual about this game is perfect. However, gameplay-wise, it is a bit clunky, the rhythm parts are repetitive and the exhaustion mechanic is annoying after playing for a while. It's a game conceptually made to be replayed multiple times to get the full experience - figure out the maps, find lore bits, NPC interactions - but I do not enjoy this approach when the gameplay is not particulary very fun, and that's the case here. If it was a fully exploration game, with backtracking possibilities and less encouragement to 'rush' through the game, I'd enjoy it a lot more, maybe it's just a preference of mine. Still, I think this game is way more positive than negative, and if you're looking for a cozy, vacation atmosphere, this is a perfect fit.

A very weird experience. I watched the demo and instantly got this game as my most antecipated release of the year. I am definitely not disappointed, it was very close to what I was expecting, an unique story driven game with mild puzzle segments.

What this game does very well is the atmosphere. It's not a frightening game, it's not funny either, it's an odd unsettling inbetween, and I find it fascinating. You can't predict what the characters will do, or where the story is going, even as a completely linear game. There are key themes and religious takes all over the place, but the ambience is so intense that the writing is hindered by the marvelous landscapes, cities and environments. The sound mixing is a bit raw at times but overall it's good too. The very light puzzles and platforms are greatly executed, they do not interfere with the immersion and add a few fun segments.

I loved the main character development and I honestly liked the pixel art parts, they are a bit random at start but they contribute greatly for the game's uniqueness. I enjoyed how the protagonist is literally just a usual nun with so many internal conflicts, like a normal human being. Her companion has good writing and development too, he's tied to religion but with different beliefs, and he felt like a true helper character sometimes, leading the way and sharing his own stories, not just an useless burden of plot/gameplay device.

I'm not the biggest fan of the ending segment, it is interesting but it felt very rushed - I'm still trying to understand what they really meant by that. It's like the game ends in half/three quarters of the actual story, there's no big conclusion sadly. This does not make the game unenjoyable, but the short length also hurts a bit here, I wanted more. I also experienced some small glitches and stutters, the optimization feels just okay.

I'm not sure I recommend full price, it's not exactly cheap, a 20%~30% sale feels like the perfect price for the experience, it's still a bit expensive for a 3.5h~4h game but INDIKA has exceptional qualities that you hardly find in most projects.

A mediocre H.R. Giger/H.P. Lovecraft horror-sex game, but since there are not too many of those in the market, it is welcomed. It definitely has more going on than 'Lust For Darkness', the voice acting is decent, the characters are compelling and the story is a bit more complex. At the same time, I think the experience is not as good as the first game, for many many reasons:

- The story is more complex yes, but at the same time it is extremely predictable, the start is a lot more interesting than the end, and feels like some kind of lore is missing.
- All the bizarre sex scenes and the whole 'alternative reality' is a lot less impactful once you've already played the first game. I don't remember most of the scenarios because I've played 'Lust For Darkness' a couple years ago, but I think some assets might have been reused.
- The gameplay itself is boring and the fighting mechanic is unnecessary, it takes more than it gives. Once you realize you can stab everyone to death easily the tense atmosphere of the game is over, then you get the gun and it goes to limbo. The bosses are pointless and unfun. Also, the puzzles are too easy, there's even one puzzle box that a character claims is 'too difficult and no one managed to solve', turns out it is a stupid easy puzzle that a 5 year old kid could solve. A simple walking simulator would be so much better.
- The characters are well designed, but the interactions are lackluster. There's a choice to save or kill a few characters but you don't really see how this impacts the game until the very ending which is just a bunch of basic texts telling what happened to them. There's this girl that appears in the last 2 hours of the game, Natalya I think, which could have interesting dialogues, but you barely talk to her.
- It's very bad optimized, I've had a lot of stutters, lag, and a few bugs.

Overall, this game is almost only worth it to play for the visuals, there are some cool details, nice graphics and the design of every environment is captivating. The whole sound mixing is also pretty fleshed out, it creates decent immersion although it won't scare you, even with cheap jumpscares. I don't regret buying it on discount, but I'm not sure I recommend full price. It's a very niche genre and contains major flaws, but I don't feel like I've wasted my time.
