Pirate Warriors 4 is a good Musou game, the gameplay is very fun, my favourite out of all the PW I've played, with a nice variety of characters. However, as much as I truly enjoy this game, it's very noticeably less polished than Pirate Warriors 3.

I understand the need to skip some arcs from the anime because it's too long, but the story mode felt rushed and incomplete. When the arc is present, it is very well developed, with nice cutscenes and stages overall, but then some important arcs are thoroughly skipped, like 'Thriller Bark' (a favourite of mine). Some straw hats are playable pre-timeskip, and some aren't, most have models with the original outfits but some simply are not available to use even as costumes. This wouldn't feel as bad if PW3 wasn't so complete story-wise, cutting characters like Perona (or any character at all imo) was a big miss. I feel like Musou games should always be bigger and better as they advance, and PW4 at the same time feels better but also worse.

The extra modes of PW4 are fine, with the DLCs the game gets a lot more interesting and I do recommend playing the Ultimate edition. If you truly enjoy One Piece and more fast-paced Musou games, I'm sure you'll enjoy this. Also, the PC port is not as bad as PW3, so this is the Pirate Warriors to go to if you want to play on PC.
