Love and relationships today are full of twists and turns, as risky as rolling a dice. Around me, everyone has had deep wounds, gone through broken relationships and even lost themselves and their minds because of it.

But does love begin like that? Of course not.
Excitement, joy and happiness are the beginning of the story. The eagerness to wait for every text message, every call from that person will become more frequent, then gradually, to wonderful dates, stolen kisses, tight hugs and cute cuddles. This world seems to be forgotten because in your eyes at that time there is nothing else but that person - the reason to live, your existence. You will see life as perfect, beautiful and full of roses.

Then time passes quietly, a few months, a few years, in a familiar sequence. Happiness gradually fades, the excitement gradually subsides, familiarity gradually forms. The two people know more about each other. The frequency of calls and messages gradually decreases. Everyone is busy. Life still waits for no one, it continues. You no longer stay up all night talking and chatting with them like before. You also no longer wake up to the usual good morning messages. You see that person, but not very often. And even when you do, you will feel like something is missing. The "sparks" of love are no longer there.
You feel like the person has changed. Maybe he/she doesn’t feel the same way about you anymore. You feel sad and insecure. You try to figure out what’s wrong, but there’s really nothing. You drift apart, amid misunderstandings, fights, and arguments. Until one day, you realize that you two weren’t meant to be together after all. And the relationship ends…

Here's the hard part: you have to move on. Of course, that's easier said than done. You realize it seems impossible because they're no longer in your life. After all, they were the first person you confided in, your soulmate, your lover. It all happened so suddenly. How can you let go? How can you accept that everything has changed?

Then you blame yourself. You get angry at yourself for believing this would last forever. But it doesn't. Things change, and people change. And you have to accept that. So, you face reality. You keep trying, day by day, bit by bit. Until someone mentions them, their favorite ice cream flavor, their favorite song... and everything comes flooding back, like a storm, bringing back memories of the good old days.
Eventually, after so many days of pretending everything's fine, so many sleepless nights, you tell yourself enough is enough. You can't stop living just because they're no longer in your life. After all, you were doing just fine before they came into your life. So, after you fall, you have to learn to get back up. You have to force yourself to go out, meet new people, focus on your career, find new hobbies. Slowly, as things return to normal, you realize there's a whole world out there that you missed when you were in love. There are other people, there are wonderful experiences, there are experiences that are just as fulfilling as the ones you once had... and you will gradually recover and get better.

When you hear their name and feel the same again, you know you've finally let go of the past. You feel normal again. No bitterness, no resentment, nothing. You're stronger, wiser. You're a better person. But most importantly, you're back.
So, the dark side of falling in love is attachment and emotional dependence on someone.
You don't fall in love with a person, but with how they make you feel. We all have an overly romanticized fantasy of being loved.
So, if you decide to revolve your entire life around one person, when that person leaves, an invisible void will be created. After all, everything in life has a price. Even love.

Especially love.
