My manifesto
After adding Rust support to Linux kernel in 2021 Linux repo has been flooded with patches and pull requests from brave Rustaceans rewriting critical components in Rust to ensure their stability and memory safety that C could never guarantee. After a few painful years of code reviews and salt coming from C programmers losing their jobs left and right we have finally achieved a 100% Rust Linux kernel. Not a single kernel panic or crash has been reported ever since. In fact, the kernel was so stable that Microsoft gave up all their efforts in Windows as we know it, rewrote it in Rust, and Windows became just another distro in the Linux ecosystem. Other projects and companies soon followed the trend - if you install any Linux distro nowadays it won't come with grep, du or cat - there is only ripgrep, dust and bat. Do you use a graphical interface? Good luck using deprecated projects such as Wayland, Gnome or KDE - wayland-rs , Rsome and RDE is where it's all at. The only serious browser available is Servo and it holds 98% of the market share. Every new game released to the market, including those made by AAA developers, is using the most stable, fast and user-friendly game engine - Bevy v4.20. People love their system and how stable, safe and incredibly fast it is. Proprietary software is basically non-existent at this point. By the year 2035 every single printer, laptop, industrial robot, rocket, autonomous car, submarine, sex toy is powered by software written in Rust. And they never crash or fail. The world is so prosperous and stable that we have finally achieved world peace. Furthermore, It's been 7 months since I started using Linux, most specifically Mint, and all the result they promised me were evident: I was a lot faster in my computer, got promoted at work, my IQ increased in at least 1 digit, my wife started looking at me like a man, my erections lasted twice as long and everyone started to respect me, even if they didn't even know what Mint is. However there was still some skepticism in my head, I refused to be an elitist because I couldn't even understand what was happening in my body. That was until I discovered Arch. The level of transcendence that Arch made me reach was enough to see what Windows and Mac users were: NPCs with no place in the world, more than being pawns in the 3d chess that we, Linux users, are always playing. You can have Linux without GNU, Which proves GNU is not an operating system unto itself, but rather, another free component on top of the fully functioning Linux kernel, which makes GNU useful by providing the process scheduler, virtual filesystem and the networking unit, and thus providing the foundation for a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computers run a modified version of the Linux kernel every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Linux which is widely used today is often called GNU/Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is possible to partially or completely eliminate the GNU system from a Linux distribution, as has been done by several groups.
There really is a GNU system, and there are people using it, but it is just when they run the Hurd kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs of the GNU project. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, and is just as necessary as the programs that run on top of it. Programs can only function with the support of an underlying kernel. GNU is normally used in combination with the Linux kernel: the whole system is basically Linux with GNU on top of it, a distribution. The so-called GNU/Linux distributions are, broadly, just distributions of Linux! Ever since I made the switch from Windows 10 to Fedora, I have noticed that I'm more focused on improving my day to day life. The fact that it forces you to tinker sometimes to get certain things to work, and how it teaches you to be more resourceful, has given me a sandbox to practice widening my attention span. I'm being more cleanly, taking better care of my surroundings and self, and I'm even starting to become a healthy weight! If I ever do go back to Microsoft, I'll regret it. I don't want to become complacent again. Before Linux, I always thought hardware should just work. And, when it didn't, it made me upset. That belief extended to the bedroom. Where frustration and shame at my ill-performing 'hardware' was becoming a real issue for me and my partner.
Then, I switched to Linux. Linux is great....I use it all the time now. But some days, my headset just won't pair. And that's okay. I've learned to accept that sometimes I just have to enter airplane mode, and then exit, and then re-pair my headset and hope that it'll connect. Sometimes I have to unplug the dongle. Sometimes I just decide 'meh, I don't need audio' tonight. In accepting these hardware issues with my desktop, I've learned that I too, can be great. Even with my hardware issues. I no longer feel the frustration and shame that I used to feel. If I can't perform, I just try it again a few times before giving up. 'Reboot' after a night of sleep and see how it goes. My friends, from their "privileged" Windows enjoyer perspective, make fun of me because I use linux. "LiNuX mAsCoT iS a PeNgUiN sO yOu aRe a FuRrY!!!!" "FeDoRa iS tHe oS fOr vIrGiNs" "LmAo yOu GaMe oN LiNuX" "NoThInG wOrKs oN LiNuX" They really piss me off. One of them always complains about Chrome hogging his RAM and YouTube not working because out of memory. I suggested he should give a try at installing a Linux distro, but no, linyx bad winblows gud hehehe. Edit: I don't get why some people are mad at me just for suggesting people to try linux when they have problems with other OSes. slightly related - i'm teaching my kids linux command line stuff and I showed them toilet. However, my pre-teen daughter thinks it is kinda vulgar. the name itself, the --gay option, the license of the software... are their any alternatives to toilet that people know about? Because she learned about piping, and thinks it is really cool to 'cat text.txt | cowsay | toilet -f term --gay' but cringes every time she types it. I know it sounds dumb to some, but i'd rather something so silly doesn't turn her off from learning command line stuff. If she was a little further along i'd teach her about forking the github and modding it herself, but that is a project for later. any suggestions would be awesome. Open source software is code designed in a way that is accessible to the public: everyone can view, modify, and distribute the code in any way they see fit. linux is an open source operating system. This means that anyone can modify linux to their liking. Linux by itself would be very difficult to use so there are distributions that contain all the necessary programs for the system to work like GNOME, wayland and xorg. there are many layouts to choose from. you can choose the one that best suits your tastes like ubuntu which is one of the most famous, Pop!_OS, debian which is the base of many linux distributions, steam os which is linux that comes with steam to play games, arch linux which is linux but for very advanced users and many more. The linux creator who is named linus torvalds started the idea of linux as a hobby that turned into a huge project in which thousands of companies like google, ibm, oracle and more are involved. The problem linus had was that he needed a tool so that people could upload their own versions of linux and contribute to the project. At that time GIT was born. git is a version management tool designed to facilitate large group programming. After the success of git and its success, very famous web pages were born like github or gitlab. This made open source grow a lot in general because now programmers had the opportunity to help each other by creating and contributing to projects of all kinds. the arrival of windows 11 generated that thousands of

hey, don't say that about Monkey, he is just concerned about the cheaters and hacker problem that plagues our community. While i do believe he has made a mistake in thinking that I am an individual who partakes in such evil activity's, I do not think this mistake was made maliciously or in bad taste.
