Surprisingly enough, this is actually good. At least to me as someone who likes Visual Novels and murder mystery stories.

Sure, it's no masterpiece compared to other VNs, but for something that was made for an April Fools joke this is way better than I've ever expected it to be.

Who knows, maybe this VN is pretty good when you read it in japanese. Unfortunately, I don't understand japanese and this translation is absolutely horrendous. It did seem interesting from what little I read, but I'm not about to go and attempt to decipher 40 hours worth of broken english to get through this game. Especially since I've heard that SakuraGame translations get worse as the game goes on.

I don't mind some grammatical errors or mistranslations here and there, but when poorly translated lines of dialogue are more common than decently translated ones, it just kills any immersion you could've had. I don't know why they even bothered to release this. If I wanted a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ translation I could just use a Texthooker and MTL the result myself.

Since I can't say much about the quality of the VN itself I can't say wether or not I'd recommend the original japanese version, but stay away from this horrible english translation.

It's a cute little story. Although very short, I still found it really enjoyable. It does have a number of flaws, but the positives outweigh the negatives in my opinion.

First of all the animation is really well done. I mean, it's mocap so that's to be expected, but Luxs animation really does feel lifelike. The voice acting is really solid as well. The story is also pretty good considering the length. There of course isn't a huge amount of depth to it due to its short length, but what is there is still really enjoyable.

There are some aspects of it that make you notice its age though. For one thing, you really don't use the motion controllers at all. Every interaction during the story is just done by looking at things for long enough. Moving around inside your playspace, while possible, feels like it's heavily discouraged since you have a body that doesn't follow your head. I think you're supposed to remain seated in the same position at all times. This honestly feels like it was made for Google Cardboard or something.

Then again, considering the age of this it's really not that big of a deal. You don't need to move around but can if you really want to. Although leaving behind a body without a head is a little strange and feels unintentional. I've also encountered some issues with reflections, which are rendered incorrectly relative to the player. It feels like the reflections on the ground are really close to the camera for some reason. It looks incredibly strange. Although there aren't many scenes that actually have these reflections so it isn't a problem for most of the game.

Of course, we have to talk about the price. This is incredibly expensive for what it is. This is actually so short that you can experience the whole story with both endings and you'd still be able to get it refunded because you'll only have 90 minutes of playtime after you're done. It's like a VR VN with a money back guarantee if you didn't like it.

Even though I think even the sale price of about 15€ was a little to expensive given the length of this, the price is understandable. Visual Novels are a very niche thing, and so is VR. Put two niche things together and what do you get? Something that is guaranteed not to sell well.

I'm honestly happy that they made it anyways, so I won't be refunding it in the hopes that more of these kinds of games will be made. I would love to see something with this level of quality but taking advantage of modern headsets. Something like encouraging the player to look around and interacting with the environment, more than just looking at things. Maybe something like picking things up and inspecting them occasionally to advance the story.

Project Lux also had some parts where the player character was getting up from his chair. While here it was realized by just blacking out for a second to transition to a scene with the player standing, I think it would've been cool to have something like a prompt along the lines of "please stand up". I think things like that could really add immersion to the story.

I would genuinely be willing to pay full price for a VR Visual Novel with animations like Project Lux and a 20 to 40 hour story. Really hope something like that will eventually be made. It may be unlikely, but Project Lux really shows the potential VR has as a storytelling medium.

This truly is a relic of the past. It's an old demo from 2016 of an unsuccessful crowdfunding project. I figured I might as well give it a shot since it's free and I like VNs. What I ended up finding truly was impressively bad.

Sure, the artwork is good and the story might have some potential, but that's about the only good thing I can say about this. I played this in VR using a Rift S, and that's where the problems start. The head tracking doesn't work properly. Move your head to the left, the camera will move to the right. Everything is inverted, which really shouldn't be a problem any VR game has. It's pretty motion sickness inducing, and for no reason at that.

Besides that, this doesn't feel like it should even be in VR. It doesn't make any sense. Everything is just in 2D. Fine for a regular VN, but in VR it just looks like all the characters are just cardboard cutouts. Even the environments are 2D, just textures projected onto a box around you. Maybe an additional texture a little closer to you occasionally. I honestly don't understand why they added VR support to this in the first place.

Well then, on to the actual VN. The amount of bad ends in here is almost comical. Not that big of a deal really, but it does seem pretty strange for a demo this short. As you can see from my playtime, I spent about 50 minutes on this one and that was enough time to get to the end of chapter 1 and encounter 5 bad endings (most of which were nearly identical). If you made only the right choices you'd be done with this in about 15 minutes.

Given the length of what is here, it's pretty difficult to judge what this might be like if it was ever completed. The story barely gets started. The premise sounds interesting, but there's nothing there besides that premise. You're essentially something called an Angel, which is like a soldier to fight for their homeland which was artificially created at a place called "The Chapel".

These angels are apparently really powerful, but the drawback is that they can only live for 3 days once they awaken. One of those angels get awakened by accident and soon after that the MC is awakened to retrieve that angel and bring her back to The Chapel. The entirety of this demo consists of a dialogue with that angel which can lead to one of 3 different results. You either get her to go back to The Chapel and both of you get killed, you make her mad and she kills you, or you decide to go with her and disobey The Chapel, which is essentially the true end, and also where the story is cut off. That's literally all there is to it. Seriously.

As other reviews have mentioned, the voice acting isn't exactly great either. It's not as bad as some make it out to be, but it certainly isn't what you'd call good. I've heard worse voice acting before, but in some parts it really is almost comically bad. Again, given how short this is and what this was supposed to accomplish, I would've really expected something a little better than that.

All in all, I'm not all that surprised the Kickstarter failed. This isn't a good VR experience by any means. Even in flatscreen it wouldn't be all that great due to the voice acting and how little is actually there. This really doesn't do a good job selling the idea. It doesn't convey much more than a synopsis and doesn't seem well made either.

Given how this will end up, the studio hasn't been heard from since 2016 and the company was dissolved in 2016 as well. According to gov.uk, the company was dissolved even before this was released on steam. Hell, the company was dissolved even before the kickstarter went live. Kinda strange if you ask me. Wonder what was going on there. Maybe this was just a rushed prototype for a hit and run kickstarter.

I'd say there's zero chance this will ever be finished. I think it's a little unfair to rip on free games, but this wasn't always meant to be like this. This was meant to be a crowdfunded project turned into a full game at some point, although that certainly won't be happening anymore.

Still, I'd say this isn't worth your time, even for free. I genuinely believe you'd be better of not playing this. You're not missing out on anything.

♥♥♥♥ this game. ♥♥♥♥ it constantly crashing. This has happened to me so many times now. Me and my friends were really close to finishing a heist, and then the game crashed. For some odd reason it only crashes on the machine of the person hosting it. I uninstalled it and I won't reinstall until they fix their ♥♥♥♥.

i feel bad for the guy who bought it for me
if you read this im sorry

You know what? The game is actually really good now. Pretty much every promised feature that I can think of is implemented. They even added those giant snakes. Along with that come a lot of features that were never even promised but requested by the community, such as Base Building.

That being said, there are still plenty of glitches. Despite that though, there's a lot of fun to be had here now. While in the initial Release version, most of the gameplay would boil down to grinding for the sake of getting better at grinding, this is not the case anymore. There are a lot of things you can work towards now, especially with Base Building. The Teleporters make getting around way less tedious and the Worlds you can find are way more interesting.

In addition to that, Multiplayer is a thing now, which makes the game way more fun than playing it by yourself. The game also performs way better than it did on Initial release, so I can finally play it at 60 FPS using the exact same graphics card I used back when the game was first released.
