I played the games 1-3 in order and loved all of them but for some reason the atmosphere in DS2 captures me the most. It's serene and out-of-place at the same time and that's the heart of the Souls-experience for me. Luckily for me I didn't buy the original DS2 immediately and got to experience the GOTY version.

Sure the first one was weirder, dark and gritty, and the third one had faster, meatier combat and outstanding scenery yet still I return to Majula to enjoy it's sad tunes and views. I feel that also the slower pace of this game is in favor of the drowsy setting.

In that sense SotFS is like the morning-after DS1, where the nightmare is over just to start all over again, just like the core "loop" in every Souls game.

Analyzing or comparing weapons, poise, builds or things like that breaks the immersion which is the most important part for me.
