There is absolutely nothing else like Pathologic 2. I can't think of anything else that is as atmospheric visually, audibly or emotionally. The gameplay, the story and even the intended difficulty are beautifully interwoven. Pathologic 2 is basically "come for the unsettling atmosphere, bear it for the story." This game takes place during a body and mind destroying plague and it's not only about keeping yourself alive, but the others who depend on you (or not). So this game is difficult. There are survival games and then there's Pathologic 2, where you will be on the edge of calamity the whole ride through and things will keep getting worse and worse and worse and worse...

So who is Pathologic 2 for? It can be brutally punishing, long to finish and difficult, has pretty high system requirements and its combat is more frustrating than anything. Pathologic 2 is for people who want to look death in the face and say "not today." The appeal, at least to me, of Pathologic 2 was overcoming the obstacles and seeing the end of the day, because the town depends on you, yargachin. The least scene of the game where you're "turning the lights off" left in me the most bittersweet feeling I've ever felt in this medium. THAT makes it all worthwhile.
