It's year 11945 and they still don't have flying cars.

You're 2B, a skimpy terminator maid designed to
destroy the robots and reclaim the earth for the humans.
Off you go, with your levitating swords,
levitating robot sidekick and your walking android boytoy.

The game has surprising amount of replayability, part of which
is enveloped within the main story of the game. By using
different viewpoints of different characters, you go through
the story of the game multiple times before reaching the
real ending.

The game itself mixes all sorts of gameplay in a smooth
experience; base of the game is a 3rd person RPG-
hack'n'slash but with the help of some masterful
camera trickery the game beceomes a sidescroller,
top-down hack'n'slash or maybe even a bullet-hell.
For a change of pace, segments in style
of retro games are added; the hacking minigames in
the second playthrough are decent fun for a while but
become more of a chore later on.

Plot twists are many, some of those are easy to guess
but some not so much.
The game supposedly has it's roots in the drakengard
series and many references are made but to me,
a newcomer to the series this game felt like it worked
great as a standalone title. I'm looking forward to
getting my hands on the original Nier-game now.

Overall pros and cons:
+ Smooth, fun gameplay (on normal difficulty, multitude of options for HC gamers)
+ One of thee best game soundtracks of recent years
+ Customizable gameplay via the RPG-elements of the game
+ Great story, partial replayability that flows well.
+ Plenty of memorable moments
+ Great level design. Game flows well especially with the camera tricks
- It had to end eventually :-(
