Cool concept (basically Escape From Tarkov, but not Pay To Win... and works offline).

Bad execution (ZERO OPTIMIZATION - courtesy of the abomination that is Unreal Engine 5).

There's not much content, and the game is pretty repetitive at the moment also.

Not recommended until the game is better optimized and has more content.

For Steam Deck users: This game does not run at a playable framerate on the Steam Deck. You can expect 15FPS, with heavy stuttering to single digit framerates - unplayable.

Good for single player and co-op.

Unlike War Thunder; this game isn't Pay To Win, doesn't require internet (it's not "Live Service" ♥♥♥♥), and is cheap. For the price of one top tier premium in War Thunder, you can buy yourself a copy of this game and a few copies for friends!

This game is a mix of sim and arcadey gameplay; with it leaning to towards the arcadey side. With that said, this is no Project Wingman or Ace Combat. It's no DCS either, you don't have to memorize cockpit startup procedures or mess around with tons of keybinds.

However this game is bad for PVP... much like War Thunder, the community is toxic, and abuses the overpowered aircraft (Ifrit and Tarantula at the time of this post).

If you join a match that has already started, there's a high possibility you'll be blow up within a few minutes of taking off (as you can often only afford a "Cricket" or a "Compass". Neither of these aircraft are supersonic or have a good payload (they're all far exceeded by the Ifrit, which also carries more advanced missiles). Like I've just mentioned, people abuse the Ifrit (it's not only supersonic, but is stealthy, and has a huge payload) and the Tarantula (which has 76mm guided shells of death that can hit from across the map, dealing substantial damage). There is currently a bunch of powercreep on new aircraft, that makes early tier and older aircraft almost pointless to use. The "Darkreach" for example is a bomber, but the "multirole" Ifrit can carry half as many nukes as it... while carrying 8x AA missiles to "defend" itself (TBH, that's enough to still go offensive). That might not sound like a big deal, until you realize the Darkreach is completely defenseless against other aircraft (it has no AA missiles or guns, has slow speed, and bad maneuverability)... but yet it's even more expensive. By the time the Darkreach makes it to it's target, Ifrits may have already killed it's targets... if the Darkreach even makes it there without getting intercepted in the first place. With a pure air supremacy loadout, it can carry 14 AA missiles (enough to spam several of them per enemy, making notching them all basically impossible). Basically. the Ifrit is a aircraft with no compromises other than the "cost"... it can do everything, and do so all at once (while other aircraft have to "pick and choose" their compromises).

In fact, for a game set in the future... the early tier aircraft have a lot of compromises that even older aircraft IRL didn't have. The Cricket is loosely based on the OV-10 Bronco, but the real Bronco had a much better gun (a M197 20mm triple barrel gatling cannon as opposed to .50 cals). The OV-10X Bronco (proposed modernized Bronco) could carry 4 Sidewinders, or 12 Hellfire missiles. In game, you're limited to on 2 MMR-S3 (the Sidewinder equivalent) and fewer AGM-48s (the Hellfire equivalent). The Compass is in the same class of aircraft as the A-4 Skyhawk (Light Attack, a subset of "multirole" aircraft)... but it is basically worse than the Skyhawk in many areas (having a smaller payload, no internal guns, slower speed, etc.). The "Super Skyhawk" (a modernized Skyhawk) had larger 30mm ADEN Cannons without sacrificing ammo count (in fact, they're the same cannons as found on some Harriers), RADAR (and numerous other avionics upgrades), a larger payload, etc. Basically this is all to say, the Cricket and Compass are rather lackluster (now that the Ifrit exists), even when compared to their modernized real-life counterparts... which is kind of unrealistic for the futuristic timeline.

Overall, I'd recommend this game if you want to play single player or co-op... since you don't have to worry about toxic players spamming missiles, killing you in an Ifrit.

If you want to play PVP, DCS is probably the better choice... as DCS doesn't have the balance/realism/powercreep issues this game has.

Basically a worse version of Warframe. Not terrible, but not great either.

Much better than War Thunder!

Can also be played on mobile devices with your progress as well!

It's actually a decent arcade WW2 aircraft game.

Very pay to win.

Online only.

Trash game with wasted potential.

I made several diss tracks for this game... below are the lyrics for one of them.
It probably won't be long before I have some diss tracks on Youtube, Spotify, etc. for this game... and eventually a very negative video exposing the game's manipulative tactics. LOL

[Verse]
Painful grind neverending fight
Rigged matches twisted every night
Communist bias hiding in the skies
Pay To Win I can see through your lies

[Verse 2]
Golden Eagles drenched in greed
Uptiered battles players bleed
Subscription traps sucking wallets dry
In this game it's do or die

[Chorus]
War Thunder's fury tearing at my soul
Toxic players taking their toll
Rigged system trying to break me down
But I won't let this game wear the crown

[Verse 3]
Grinding hours for a single tank
Empty promises from the bank
Premium vehicles leaving us behind
This is no game just a lifeline

[Bridge]
Piece of the pie they'll never share
Pay To Win it's everywhere
Skies are dark with dollar signs
Selling dreams in twisted vines

[Chorus]
War Thunder's fury tearing at my soul
Toxic players taking their toll
Rigged system trying to break me down
But I won't let this game wear the crown

It's a great game port from mobile! Do not let the term "mobile" put you off, this is actually a pretty nice game especially when compared to Activision's greedy COD titles. The graphics, even for a mobile game port are not bad either (there are still PC games that have worse graphics being released).

Combat Master is not run by a really greedy company. They do have bundles, but they are all under $10 each and they give you a variety of matching skinned guns, knives, etc (what you see, is what you get). They also have a battle pass, which only cost $5. Keep in mind that this is a free game, so some microtransactions are necessary (devs need to eat lol) but at least they are not expensive and are not gambling mechanics.

The game is pretty small in storage requirements, which makes it perfect for people who have bad internet or low end PCs. Being a game ported from mobile, you may also be able to play this on a older/weaker PC without major issues.

You can play the game both online and offline, and you can also access the stuff you earned/bought offline too. Offline playability ensures that you can still play the game even if the servers shut down (of if your internet is down, or if you're somewhere without internet, ect.), which is great! Offline modes allow you learn the game mechanics, experiment with various loadouts, as well as avoid cheaters and toxic players too. The offline modes also have adjustable difficulty and progression works offline too, so the game is not P2W (new players can play offline until they unlock better gear and are ready to play online) and veteran players can still get a challenge from the bots by cranking up the difficulty.

Additionally, this game has optional crossplay (play with players on a different platform) and shared progression (you can play the game with your account on both PC and mobile). This also means that your purchases on mobile or PC carry over to other platforms! Of course if you want, you could create a separate account on PC or mobile.

Overall, this game is very much worth playing. If you like COD, but hate Activision's greed and hate EOMM (Engagement Optimized Matchmaking)... this game is for you!

EDIT: 09-26-2024

THIS GAME IS NOW PAY TO WIN, AND CONTAINS LOOTBOX GAMBLING. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GAME AT ALL ANYMORE.

THE PREVIOUS UPDATE ADDED THE LOOTBOXES, AND THE UPDATE THAT WAS JUST RELEASED YESTERDAY (AS OF THIS REVIEW UPDATE) PAYWALLED SOME ATTACHMENTS... MAKING THE GAME PAY TO WIN.

TBH, YOU ARE BETTER OFF TO GET INSURGENCY 2014, DAY OF INFAMY, AND CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS 2 (GET THE FREE PLUTONIUM MOD)... AS BUYING ALL 3 OF THESE GAMES IS CHEAPER THAN BUYING EVERYTHING IN COMBAT MASTER, AND THEY LACK PAY TO WIN/GAMBLING MECHANICS.

ALFA BRAVO ARE LYING SCUMBAGS WHO SHOULD BE BOYCOTTED.
