YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY FOR THIS SOFTWARE. IT CAN BE DOWNLOADED FOR FREE FROM GITHUB.
people who are leaving negative reviews because the dev has put up paid "addons" that don't have much of if any effect are ignoring that fact in order to attempt to justify acting obnoxiously. those negative reviews speak volumes about the people who are leaving them but don't actually say anything at all about this software whatsoever. strange, that ...

i have been a user of this software ever since it was first uploaded to a private web page sometime between the year 2000 and 2012, long before it appeared on steam, and thanks to game (and microsoft's GUI) developers paying attention to how important this software was to the gaming industry developing as well as it has and putting a borderless window option in most graphics settings now i have not needed to use it for around a decade.

THAT BEING SAID, and knowing full-well that i can access all the features of this software without paying any money whatsoever, i have deliberately chosen in my own mind and my own free will to pay for this steam version of the software but also the paid "DLC" and i have made that choice TO SHOW GRATITUDE TO THE DEV for the literally thousands of hours of playtime that i have been able to enjoy because of this code.

to the dev, Andrew - thank you SO MUCH for this software. back in the day the PCs that i was used to would have trouble with running anything in fullscreen because of how GPUs worked and there are at least a dozen classic titles that i could not have played at anything better than about 15fps, but i very clearly remember the first time i had winamp and milkdrop going on one screen while playing the counterstrike mod on a second screen next to it with both displays running butter smooth. the few dollars that i'v chucked your way are only a FRACTION of the value that you game me and thousands of other people free of charge for no other reason than you are a good human being. thank you for all that playtime.
and, because you deserve it so much i'll say it thrice - once again, thank you

YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY FOR THIS OR THE BASE SOFTWARE !!!
the features available in this paid addon can be gotten for free from the project's github page.

i'v been a fan of Borderless Gaming since it first appeared on the internet as a tool to be able to avoid fullscreen apps when windows XP was still a thing and putting a game or program into fullscreen mode would wreak havoc on the PCs of anyone who had multiple monitors. first downloaded it for free way back then, and was in the forum when the dev announced the steam page. i paid for the steam version back when it was released and i'm paying the extra for this DLC today as an act of gratitude to the dev, to pay them at least a small fraction of the value that i got from this tool over the span of multiple decades. i can still remember the first time i played counterstrike on one screen while winamp played music and milkdrop melted reality on the other, and can still remember the bliss from that. that's why i paid for this.

if you, like myself, CHOOSE by the power of your own free will to put money into the dev's pocket then GOOD, because people like them do work that is very, very much appreciated and THEY STARTED THIS ALL JUST TO HELP PEOPLE BE ABLE TO PLAY GAMES, NOT TO MAKE MONEY. if you don't choose that for whatever reason that is also absolutely fine and i encourage you to go and search for this software on github (it's the one by CodeUSA) where you can get a standalone, non-steam version, just please don't complain about the price.

i'm not joking there either. people who complain about the price of something that they can get for free ... well, let's put it this way - complaints about stuff that is freely given speak volumes about the people doing the complaining while saying absolutely nothing at all about the subject of their complaints. it's not a good look, yeah? just get the free version instead.

---

note to the dev -

thank you for your contribution to gaming, Andrew - the fact that a borderless display mode is put into most games these days by default is, i rekon, a direct result of your work on this software, and that statement represents a hill that i am prepared to get really drunk and talkative with people in order to defend. you have made a signifigant contribution to gaming culture, and you deserve kudos for that ... but have some money as well anyway - you deserve that too!

i can play this game with my 6yo son, and he is learning about how superficial the whole purchasable cosmetic item craze really is. i dress my bean up but he plays with a plain red bean despite having heaps of skins. good for him.

that being said, it's a good game that has a learning curve that's shallow enough that noobs can pretty easily compete against experienced players within minutes. the only bad thing is that pretty much everything is orientated around the points shop.

this game is a helluva grind to get points, but if you like it enough to play it enough to get point enough you'll really enjoy yourself. the community isn't too toxic either because people tend to report salty people for being salty and the devs are exactly as active as you hope they'd be in getting rid of such people.

a big downside is how monetised this game is. apart from the many, many DLCs available in the steam store that (in my personal and ignorable opinion) are not especially cheap, there is also an in-game store for in-game currency where you can buy in-game cosmetics. that's a bit of a bummer, but the devs gotta eat so i understand it. you can also spend real money in-game to unlock the DLC characters.

as far as characters go, there is a wide range of killers and survivors available even to people who have not paid for any DLCs. apart from the three default killers that were released on launch, there are a few others that have been made free-to-play, and the variety of skills shared among them, especially as more skills are unlocked, allows for practically any play-style that you can dream of.

there aren't many bugs that i, personally, have come across, and when they happen it is amusing rather than frustrating. i have had a bug force me to quit a round (which results in an automatic 5-minute ban from matchmaking in order to discourage ragequitting) only once, and that was during a public beta when a new killer and survivor were being trialled. oh, on the subject of public betas, they happen quite often and you don't need to sign up to any mailing lists to participate - just change the setting in the steam properties tab.

i myself have unlocked all of the killer and survivor characters as of the time of writing this review and plan on doing so into the future. the only things i have ever gotten for free are bloodpoints for participating in a public beta, and laughs. i honestly recommend this game to anyone that thinks they might enjoy it.

Early Access Review
it's a good game, a damned good game. the catchphrase "prop hunt done right" has stuck to it because, well, it's an accurate description, and the devs are active in the community. the price is also really good.

there are numerous maps, and there are more playmodes being developed. definite win. about the only negative to the game is the fact that there aren't any dedicated servers in Australia yet, but there are plans for that to change, and considering the size of the dev team and budget that they have, that's completely understandable. as you can see from the pictures at the top of the page, it's a very cartoonish style, and for a prop hunt style game, that's ideal.

EDIT - there are now Australian servers for the game.

it's not the lightest on resources, you'll need a fairly heavy GPU to be able to play it at 1080p60fps on ultra settings, but that's because of the fantastic Unreal Engine 4 that the game uses. with the settings turned down low it's playable on a laptop from a few years ago. another thing is that at the moment it doesn't support 32bit systems and will only work in a 64bit environment, but that's also an issue with UE4 and it's memory usage rather than the game, and the devs are working hard to fix it.

this review has been written less than a month after the game was launched in Early Access, so the negative points of this review might well have been fixed by the time you get to buy the game.

oh yeah, the community is also fantastic, there aren't too many toxic players yet, and the devs are also working on systems that will keep things nice and friendly.

see you in on the hunt!

DO NOT BUY THIS BROKEN PIECE OF ♥♥♥♥ GAME

the devs have abandoned it. you are wasting your money. this also goes for other titles by Rebellion, which include Alien vs. Predator and Zombie Army Trilogy.

when i load this game up it crashes out before getting to the main menu. requests to the devs for troubleshooting assistance or even a bug fix have been ignored for nine months and counting.

a very fun platformer deathmatch.

simple controls, 8-bit sound AND graphics, fast-paced action, and a sense of humour. something you can play with your children.

fantastic as a multiplayer casual game for friday night parties.

here is a review / first time playing video

okay, for a TL:DR - I absolutely love this game.

EDIT - advice has changed to "DO NOT BUY THIS BROKEN PIECE OF ♥♥♥♥ GAME" because the developers have abandoned it.

yes yes yes, nazi zombies have been done before, in fact in the prequels to this game as well as a few other places. This game began as a spin-off of Sniper Elite V2, which is a third-person shooter with stealth and gravity and wind to make it more complicated. that game didn't get as high a rating as it deserved, probably because it was overshadowed by much more popular titles. The developers, apparently, after completion of SE:V2, had some time on their hands, and so they decided to see how many NPCs could be active in the game engine, and zombie AI is easy to program, so the first Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army was born as not much more than a standalone DLC to it's parent game. then, a year later, Sniper Elite: Nazi Zonbie Army 2 appeared, with some better graphics and much better AI and physics. As these were never released for consoles, and the developers wanted that market, they decided to package this trilogy together, and release it soon after Sniper Elite 3, as that title and this one share a lot of the engine updates.

there are more classes of enemy in the third chapter, and the first two chapters have been re-mastered in the updated engine but have been left much the same. the chainsaw dudes are honestly terrifying when they run at you, and they are harder to put down than the Elite (big guys with machine guns) as well as being covered in steel plate armour. there are many improvements in AI, including zombies now having the ability to climb up ledges, and there are also occasionally survivor NPC to rescue. one definite highlight is still the battle on top of the Flak tower at the climax of the second episode.

Each episode is five levels, which if you take your time should take about 45 minutes each, which brings the entire game time up to about 12 to 15 hours for the campaign, and several more for Horde mode, where zombies just come at you in increasingly difficult waves.

seriously, when you are in the safehouses, stick around and listen to the messages on the radio during the third chapter. they get pretty spooky. unlike in the first two chapters, a theme that is (only very tentatively) explored is the horror of people converting from human to zombie, but considering this is just an action-shooter (there is extremely little stealth involved) it isn't really explored much, which is good. you don't want to have to think to be able to have fun with the ridiculous premise of this game. happily, it doesn't take itself too seriously, and there are subtle jokes in every location, although you have to look for a lot of them.

about the only thing i found bad about it was the multiplayer system and lobby, but the developers are active and listen to the community, and hopefully that will change to a type similar to that of Sniper Elite V2 and 3, where you have a choice of what game server you want to play on, and hopefully that change will be easy to implement and will happen soon.

it's good mindless fun. watch Adolf Hitler kill his generals, die and become a zombie himself, and then shoot Zombie Hitler. uruuughhhhhhhh hnn hnn hnnnn groawrrrrrrrrrrrr (that's zombie for "shoot them in the head")

what can i say? wolfenstein 3D started the entire first-person shooter craze. there are some that argue to be better, but none have ever been more innovative, immersive, or awe-inspiring. I remember staying up late at night, building my own levels and fighting my way through hordes of nazis. ahh, the nostalgia!

Once again, Wolfenstein blurrs the lines between alternate history and science fiction. i can't say much, because i have not yet finished the campaign, but i can say that I am loving the references to the original, as well as the gameplay and graphics, after all, i did buy a computer specifically for this game, even if it does also handle rather well on my 3yo laptop. this game could only be improved with the addition of multiplayer, and / or zombies.

10/10 time to brush up on my german

hilariously brutal local (or online) multiplayer deathmatch, very obviously influenced by GoldenEye 007 on the N64. a range of hilarious weapons and fun maps, with the gimmick being that all players are invisible and have to look at each other's screens in order to locate and destroy. nice and fast-paced and plenty of fun.

SO much more fun than you would expect from such a small download. 10/10
