Psychonauts 2 is a once-in-a-lifetime game, and I don't mean it's so good that nothing else is going to be made like it. I mean something else. This game is a long-awaited sequel to one of my favorite games of all time, Psychonauts. The thing about most long-awaited sequels is that they have a lot of trouble creating a similar feeling to the original. Take the remake of Battle for Bikini Bottom. That remake had almost 0 heart. This game has so much heart that it hurts. First of all, the game itself has a hit or miss art style, it always has, but this new game looks great. There are very few technical problems besides the not-so-often clip through something. As far as gameplay goes, expect a lot of cutscenes. I love this lore. I could not watch nearly half of the cutscenes because I just wanted to play the game so bad. The good thing is that they are all skippable. The controls are very tight. Almost all of the items and powerup you attain are very fun to use. The only problem I run into is how the button mapping works. You constantly have to assign different powers to different buttons, which can get confusing. The controls that worked best for me were picking one button to be my misc and only switching out that one. Overall the game is not too long, well polished, and left me feeling very satisfied with what I had waited so long for. This game is a win in my book, and if you were to buy this game, I strongly recommend purchasing the first one and playing it before.
