After playing just under 20 hours, and as someone who played DaS1 religiously in high school and has played every game since to completion, I can safely say this:

FromSoft has upped their game in a way that every major studio wishes they could. They took a formula which is by now canonized as "tried-and-true," but rather than sticking to what worked 10 years ago or 5 years ago they tried to adapt to the times and offered players a couple of QoL improvements that make it a refreshing experience for veterans and newcomers alike. The mount system adds a lot of convenience and surprising complexity; the new casting systems are fluid and fun; crafting is a welcome addition to an RPG series that has oddly used it through NPCs almost without fail; taking inspiration from BloodBorne, weapon arts (battle arts?) return with a new significance based on the original Dark Souls crafting scheme; and in an unbelievable twist there is a map and I cannot believe I am saying this...

A fast-travel system via the map UI. And guess what?

It's not a cop-out, it's not for the casuals - it just makes sense for the game From created.

I can't wait to play the rest but I'm already convinced it's a classic in the making.

Even though this game is still in early access, it's a great follow-up to a great game. Highly recommended for play with friends, but there are dozens and dozens of hours of GAMEPLAY (not content, actual *gameplay*) to experience solo as well.

It's a cliche to say every game is different, but with Risk of Rain 2, it's true in a pretty meaningful way. One day you might die 10 minutes in to a few wisps, and another you might become an invincible god carving a path of cleavage wherever you go.

It's good, creative fun.

A little easy to slime your way through levels, but actually mastering the mechanics of the game can be a challenge.

Sci-Fi turn based strategy done right. Interesting universe, the flavor text is ACTUALLY worth reading, and the nuances of resources and starting races makes the game much more replayable than initially anticipated.

Also, for those who enjoy Civ, I feel Endless Space one-ups the Civ franchise in terms of combat: while simplistic and relatively hands-free, actually getting to see and, ostensibly, command your fleets in battle adds a whole new layer of investment for the player.

Probably the worst game I have played on steam.

Atrocious enemy design ("hey guys, lets make the enemies about the same, except more annoying on higher difficulties." "BRILLIANT!"), glitches galore, and the god-awful meme-ridden writing make this one of the only games that makes me feel nauseous solely in terms of quality and time wasted.

I had a good amount of fun, it's just that most of that fun was sucked away immediately like when an airplane window gets shot in a movie.

If you played Hotline Miami, expect the same mechanics with radically different level design, enemy design and general gameplay. Overall even more enjoyable of a game than the original with some much bigger faults.

If you haven't played Hotline Miami before, Wrong Number is probably going to be a nightmare for you.
A surreal, brutal, and adrenaline-packed nightmare.
