The codename for this game is Ultimate Grinding Simulator. The developers did some good choices in the past but they're doing terrible choices nowadays. Just trying to extend the life of the game by making your progression in it sooooo slow.

There is almost no space (space! get it?) for the casual players like me but is not because the mechanics of the game itself but for the objetives of the differents things you can do (missions, trading, mining, bounty hunting...).

Here are my pros and cons:

PROS

  • Immersion: specially in VR you can feel that you're inside a space ship near a station or planet, etc.
  • You can explore the Milky Way. Move around solar systems, dock in stations and land on planets.
  • The ship interiors are so cool in VR. You can see your ship and the exterior through really big "windshields".
  • You can take several different roles in the game and change among them whenever you want.

CONS

  • You can't walk around your ship. For me this is the biggest flaw of this game. How is it supposed to be immersive if I can't even get up from my chair?
  • Interiors: yeah, I've put this in the pros but the bad part is that the interior design is not following the hardcore sci-fi laws. In these kind of ships you wouldn't have such huge empty spaces, such huge "windshields" or such non functional cockpit elements. Every part of the ship would have a design purpose but you barely can see that in Elite: Dangerous.
  • Grinding mechanics. If don't want to get bored, need to play hundred of hours just to be able to buy some medium ships.

My overall is positive because this is one of the very very few games that makes you feel like you're in the outter space. I'd buy it just for the feel of being there. Again, using a VR set is a x10 in enjoyment.
