It's a fun little game to play when you have a bit of downtime and want to play something that you can pick-up and drop at any point. In no particular order, here is an itemized list of what I enjoyed and what I thought could use improvement:

The Good:

⦁ The game is easy to understand and the campaign does a good job easing you into all of the mechanics and what the units can do.
⦁ The extreme mode difficulty never felt entirely unfair and I had to reset a few times in a few missions. It certain feels like a puzzle to solve in some missions. Definitely enjoyed that.
⦁ Every unit has a role to play and they all fit their roles very well. I never found any unit to be useless. Even basic infantry remain relevant throughout the whole campaign.
⦁ I felt the variety in the types of missions you do were good. It's not always capture HQ or wipe out all units.
⦁ The spliced units were cool idea. They get quite strong late into the campaign but never become the backbone of your army. It's hard to describe, but power level of the spliced units always feels right. Never overpowered, but never outright useless.
⦁ Subsequently, the unique abilities you get for spliced units are generally available often and can have major ramifications in the battle. E.g., the cow's Herd Mentality ability allows adjacent units to play another turn. This really changes up how you play the game.
⦁ The main antagonist, Zarb, has that typical, megalomaniac, Martian supervillain trope and for a game like this, it works very well.
⦁ Despite the overall art direction, the maps look very nice.
⦁ I have yet to encounter a single bug/issue in this game. The QA was top-notch.
⦁ You can close the game mid-mission and load your game again with the battle in the same state. Like I mentioned before, easy game to pick and drop at your leisure.

The Bad:

⦁ Very subjective, but the Clash of Clans-like art style is not for me.
⦁ The game UI is competent and clear, but feels extremely uninspired.
⦁ The campaign mode's attempt at humor and character development is certainly there, but feels basic. I did not find myself growing attached to any of the characters. In fact, I was more concerned with my spliced units. I always felt bad when I had to flush one.
⦁ Some of the unit models felt a little too uninspired. The greatest offenders on the Earth side were the tank and Goliath. It is basically tank and jumbo tank. They function very similarly, but it would've been cooler to me if they had some entirely different model. Something like an IFV and tank rather than tank and big tank. The same goes for Mars with their lasertank and ultratank.
⦁ The unit abilities feel somewhat like an after-thought. They are certainly powerful, but given how long their cooldowns and how they start on cooldown immediately, I never truly felt like the ability upgrades were that impactful. That's not to say they are useless; not at all, however you can't rely on them to win battles. Heavy infantry bazooka shot, I am looking at you.

Final thought:

One last thing I'd like to add is perhaps this game could actually be made into a mobile game. It certainly feels like it could be done with a few UI changes. I would definitely like to play this while I am on the go.

I haven't played the old MoW games, but I am really liking this one. Not entirely sure what all the fuss is about. The gameplay is punishing, but you start to get the hang of it after a few hours. I highly recommend playing the tutorials first before play otherwise you are just NOT gonna understand how to play this game and get pulverized. My only complaint about the game is the graphics seem very mid and the pathfinding can be wonky at times. Sometimes my vehicles just start to move unbelievably slowly when they get too close to rock outcroppings. Forces me sometimes to manually control them to get them out.

Also, the rocket artillery in this game is f***ing awesome!

If you have the souls-like itch and want something at From Software's level of quality, this is definitely worth picking up. The story telling in this game is more overt compared to From. Small side-note but this game does start off a little slow and the early game weapons do feel somewhat drab. If you can get past that, it'll definitely be worth your time.

Captivating story, great gameplay and weapons (excluding the early game ones), and the characters at Hotel Krat start to grow on you.

Early Access Review
I think this game is fantastic (and you could read some of the other reviews), but it's yet another one of those Early Access games stuck in purgatory. It's been several years and the new content has been minor at best. I really want to play the full experience, but until the game is done, I can't really recommend it to anyone.

Just like CoH2, this game came out a bit in the rough, but the potential is real! The devs have been fast to respond to bugs in both the single player bugs and multiplayer bugs/balance changes. If you want a game that feels like a full, complete package, maybe wait a month or two for Relic to iron out all the bugs before buying. If all you care about is the multiplayer, then I'd say it's well worth the price right now.

The game comes with 2 distinct campaign modes: the traditional cutscene into gameplay DAK campaign and the Italian pseudo-4X style campaign.

The multiplayer mode comes with 4 factions that are reasonably balanced and play quite distinctly from each other.

In short, definitely worth a buy right now. If you care a lot more about polish, then I'd wait a bit on this game since there are still some issue. (i.e. some icons aren't updated, main menu looks drab, no progression system for multiplayer yet, etc...)

I wish there was a neutral vote, because that's how I feel about this game. It starts off real strong, then starts to feel grindy around the mid- to late-game. I feel like the devs were trying to craft a funny story, but used a little too much padding. Moreover, the combat is somewhat janky. I didn't mind it at all in the beginning because it was part of the charm of a parody game, but towards the end, enemies started attacking at light-speed and you have very little time to react. Sometimes when you block enemies they'll rollover and get stunned, sometimes they just keep wailing at you. Like I said before, if the enemies didn't attack so quickly as they do in the end of the game, I would've accepted it as part of the charmy-jankiness of the game.

Some more positives notes. The environments actually look quite nice. The open world is small, but not too small to feel boring. There are minor side-stuff you can do. Some mobs are fun to fight, some aren't due to the aforementioned reasons. There are some staves that will completely obliterate everything in your path and I won't lie, that was quite a bit of fun and what helped me finish this game up. There's a mount you can get later on too which is also nice due to how fast it moves and hovers. I feel like I am starting to ramble now...

In short, this game is a tad-bit too long and the combat isn't the most enjoyable. The game starts off quite strong then starts to lose its charm in the mid game due to padding, many similar dungeons, and less story beats/gags. If you're fine with all that, then this is a great recommend. If you are looking for a funny game from start to finish, I'd give this a pass.

Early Access Review
I really want to like this game, but holy crap does it feel just wrongly unfair at times. Whenever I attack any village or faction with 2 or more infantry; not even a minute passes and I get attacked by a worm. Within a few more seconds, I'll lose either 1 guy or my whole army unless I B-line in the other direction and spread out my army. It's really not enjoyable because the game is already so slow so when I do carry out an attack and then get killed by worms (and only my army mind you) for playing the freaking game, I immediately alt+f4.

Currently, I this game sucks. There's hardly any story, the pacing is slow, the worms seem to only attack your army, and the barrage of menus you have to navigate while playing an RTS just feels weird. There are some good ideas, but overall the game is a snoozefest.
