Was very excited for this as it revamps some of the systems that I feel are underutilized in Chernarus; however, I cannot recommend this DLC in it's current form.
I will preface this with I have a lot of positive to say about the mod, but it misses the beat in a few key areas that I personally feel are too important to ignore.

Positive:
-Heat rework.
Love it or hate it, it makes the consequences of PVP far more pronounced. It also does a fantastic job of forcing fresh spawns to make important decisions on whether or not hitting the high value military spawns right away is worth it or not.
-Frozen food.
Conceptually this is ball busting, but I believe it is for the best. Your average DayZ player is a room temperature IQ donkey who is trying to live in the ARMA II past (over a decade later!) only willing to rummage for cans of food.
Sakhal fixes this! Sakhal is rife with wildlife! In every city and forest you can find rabbit, fox, sheep, and reindeer populating the map which are waiting for you to kill them and make use of their body! This is the most important part of Sakhal where I believe Sakhal forces players to team up and survive in the spawn towns. I never had a problem getting food, but at the same time my two man was making fires and cooking constantly. One Reindeer, and I had food for hours.
-Boats
Boats! Holy ♥♥♥♥ finally more boats! I had been missing these. The lack of ability to randomly damage them, and their simple "only a spark plug" construction is fantastic.

That's all the praise I can give.
Negative:
-The map
Map is poorly laid out, the major island is fine and I had no problems with it, but the periphery islands are boring as hell. Empty, devoid of identity, just weak.
-The loot
We made out way from spawn, down to the coast, found a boat, and went for what it supposed to be the highest priority loot we could. What did we find? A surplus of naked AKS74U underfolders, and Vikhrs. Thats it. Nothing else. All the clothing we had from the main island, and armor from the main island, stayed on us the entire time we looted the southern island. Nothing was better, the guns were weak, the spawns were faint, and overall? I was unimpressed. We then made our way around the map looking for the heli crash equivalent of Sakhal: crates. over the course of nearly an hour and a half we found a single crate, and within it a badly damaged DMR with no mag and no ammo. Embarrassing. For the difficulty of getting to the island the reward was severely lacking.
-Boats
How are we back at boats? Well unfortunately, though I find their reintroduction wonderful (and I am happy about them), they come at a cost. The cost is that no random loot exists on the main island outside of police cars. No heli crashes. No airdrops. You must either boat to the southern island and hope you get lucky, or boat to the periphery islands (spending a ridiculous amount of time) and hope you get lucky. In both cases the boating is mind numbing and infurating.
-Ice
♥♥♥♥ ice. Makes getting the boat out of the coast unbearable. Hate it. Also the sheets are not connected to land so you cannot use them as a land bridge. 2/10

In conclusion and in short: The mod introduces a well received difficulty spike that Chernarus was lacking at the cost of being extremely bland with a tedious and uninteresting end game.

Yeah it keeps launching because I have my browser open. I cannot actually get it to shut off without closing my browser. I can't even uninstall it because it keep running.
I have nowhere near 200 hours. Awful stuff.

This is another one of those games that gets a far worse rap than it deserves. The combat wasn't insane, the end of the game (im gonna go ahead and spoil some of this four year old game) content is unbelievably underwhelming, and the in game menu mentions expansions or dlc or some ♥♥♥♥, but the only thing we ever got was some Rockstar energy drink promotional thing.
This is offset by some fun car driving bash boom explosions, environments I enjoyed exploring, and a relaxed combat system that doesn't require intense skill levels.
Spoiler below:
Okay so you get the black on black right? well it's hot ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage compared to whatever high tier maxed out meme car you have put together by the end of the game. That and the end city was a mess, not what the game deserved, not what Max deserved. The end boss fight too was just so boring with a boring outcome and man it let me down after finishing it.

This is a "best played with friends" type game. I have not once opened this game on my own to play it solo. It's just not fun. Most of the guns felt rather limp ♥♥♥♥, and though I haven't played since australia was added I still don't see myself reinstalling to play again.

I liked it more than The Division 2.
I feel like the building of a character is best in The Division than in TD2 because you can get lost in the minutia of weapon and skill tweaking. I haven't fully 100%ed TD2, but I've gotten rather close in TD, and for it to hold my attentiong *THAT* long means that both I need better hobbies, and it's really not as bad as the reputation it gets.

You could say Arma II was where it all started.
You're wrong. Arma II operation arrowhead is where it all started. No matter who you are, or what your opinion is, operation arrowhead is where a massive chunk of the arma fanbase started thanks to Dayz mod.
Operation arrow head is a clunky, janky, horrific mess of a game that was only bested by it's direct sequel arma III. Modding capabilities out the ass, and like a decade's worth of user missions and content means that you could have endless experiences with this old ass engine.
Or you could do the smart thing and buy arma III since most of the important arma II ♥♥♥♥ has been ported, but hey it's your money not mine.

Hate this game. Not good. The whole experience feels like the job of creative director has changed hands a few too many times throughout the years leaving a disjointed mess of art style mixed with power creep abilities and characters to jelq a few more nickels out of you wallet. Also the game looks like ass and is forty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gigs. ♥♥♥♥ off with that.

One of the best games ever made. Modding can be a little wonky, but accessible, and the whole experience for a casual player is enjoyable from start to moonlord. ♥♥♥♥ moonlord.
