Well, no, you definitely do not have complete control, but that shouldn't be something you expect anyways. It is an unavoidable fact with physics based movement. The thing that makes the game feels clumsy is inertia; It's not something you can avoid by just making a good control scheme.

There will inevitably be people that cannot look past the unintuitive controls. So as a warning to other players, the review is justifiable. What is isn't, however, is any form of usable or sensible feedback for the devs.
