Crazy explosion-preventative (or more often, explosion-causing) fun that actually literally had me laughing out loud at some points. AND FOR ONLY $5! (Or 99 cents on the Summer Sale!)

Play as McPixel, the hilariously inept guy who just so happens to occasionally prevent an explosion or two. And has an alarming habit of kicking people. Who then have an alarming habit of not responding at all.

Also, hot dog bombs!~

A quite interesting first person puzzler slightly reminiscent of games such as Portal and the Talos Principle.
Don't buy this game expecting that level of complexity or quality, but anything even slightly like Portal is a good thing, right?

Right.

One complaint, though: It doesn't use the feature the game is named after - the ability to switch your color to avoid or trigger certain pieces of geometry or lasers - nearly as often as it should.
Anyway, you could do much worse for $5 and not a whole lot better for 19 cents, which is what I picked it up for during the Summer Sale.

I'm not sure if I'm just terrible at the teleporting or the shooting or the teleport-jumping or what, but I really think this game needs more checkpoints. Screwing up once and being sent back five minutes is a bit much for this kind of game.

Regardless, good puzzles, good mechanics, good game.

An interesting and, to my knowledge, unique core mechanic well implemented via a series of puzzle levels that slowly increase in complexity, with a fairly well-built story (for a puzzle-platformer) revealed gradually through collectable items in the levels.
*Takes breath*
Anything I missed?
A good game, especially for the low price of 19 cents I bought it for while on sale.

The biggest problem with this game is that it's unpolished.
  • The main feature, the physics beam, is awkward to control, and it lets go at the most inconvinient times.

  • The art is inconsistent and underwhelming. I'm not sure, but I think I could have done most of the art assets in MS Paint. And the semi-realistic gold nugget looking things are supposed to be antimatter? Please, just do a Google search and find a better asset. The same few enemies and bits of terrain are also resued over and over, which results in a boring, static experience.

  • There is very little challenge and no penalty for failure. If you die, the only thing you lose is time off your life as you respawn at the latest checkpoint with no golden antimatter nuggets missing and the enemies respawned. This obviously makes it very easily to cheese some antigold nuggets by suicide-jumping them.

  • The reload feature is instant - just press "R" - and you never stop shooting. It may as well not be there at all for how much it impacts gameplay.

There are some good bits, of course, but not enough to justify the full $5 price. Honestly, I've seen better games written in Flash for my browser.

My opponents are all building nukes and demolishing my nation. I spend the last bit of gold in my treasury to become allies with the city-states of the world.
As my capital is about to fall, I turn to the UN and declare, "I'm World Leader now."
They all put away their nukes and go home.
10/10 would be realistic again.

*Serious note: If you get this game, get all the expasions, too. It's only great with the DLC*

Sunless Sea is the sibling game to the fantastic text-based browser game Fallen London. It allows you to explore more of the atmospheric Neath and really does a great job of fleshing out the world with the trademark writing Failbetter is so good at. Sail a ship around the Sunless Sea and balance light between terror and fuel, encountering strange monsters and even stranger islands along the way.

Sunless Sea IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY. If you prefer a more fast-paced or "action-y" experience, you will probably not enjoy it. The combat mechanics are "basically functional" at best, your ship is fairly slow, and the Sea (more properly known as the Zee) is huge. But the combat is not the main point.

The point is the story. Possibly the Ztory, but I'm not sure. (Zure?)
The game shines through when you dock at an island and meet a deviless for tea. When you deliver a mostly-dead but still surprisingly lively corpse to a party. When you find two warring tribes of rats and guinea pigs. When you wash up on an island populated entierly by postmen. When you sail to the West and find the machine that powers the Sun.

Bottom line: Slow paced, atmospheric, tension building, utterly fantastic game. Perhaps try Fallen London if you want to get a taste of the writing before paying.

Crazy sandbox fun in the Source engine.
I recommend getting Counterstrike: Source for extra models - some gamemodes require them.
It's fun in singleplayer, but it's AMAZING in multiplayer.
Gather up a few friends and a free evening and start it up; you'll have a blast!

DDR meets Spelunkey.
Shopkeepers sing along to the music.
Fight a chess-themed boss.
Murder or get murdered.
And DANCE to fantastic music!
Yes.

The beats are much more forgiving than a standard rhythm game, and if even those are too hard, there's a Bard character that eliminates the need for beats entirely. The weapons are balanced to be more than just extra numbers taped on to a sword (most change your attack pattern) and permenant upgrades help out a lot in later levels.
9/10 Gameplay
10/10 Originality
300/10 Soundtrack
+1 Title Pun
+1 Singing Shopkeepers
+1 Import custom music

Total: 322/30 (Must buy if you're at all interested in this kind of thing)
