This is a very, very good game and is probably my GOTY for 2018. The gameplay is engaging and challenging, the story is powerful and well-told through mechanics and music as well as dialog, the characters are believable, and the soundtrack is fantastic. Well worth even full price, let alone if it's on sale.

Let me preface this review with two statements:
* I recieved this DLC for free beacause I got it the first day it was out.
* This DLC is not for everyone.

The second part is critical. For those who want a significant (and I mean significant) increase in the challenge of the base game, Seal the Deal is great.
Death Wish is really challenging and it can feel great when you eventually beat a mission. The "Easy Mode" (Peace and Tranquility) does not lock any collectables or achievements to enable and I'd highly recommend using it if you're having trouble. If you're not a speedrunner or if you don't enjoy that kind of gameplay, you won't enjoy Death Wish.
Arctic Cruise was a little disappointing, as it only has three acts and no boss fight. The seals are adorable, of course, but I wouldn't say the chapter is great.
Soundtrack and visuals are on point as per usual - my favorite track is the collasping time rift.

Overall, my first statement is the summary. Seal the Deal is not for everyone; it's intended primarily for those who want more challenge from the game or who enjoy speedrunning. I happen to enjoy it, but I will admit the base game is much better overall as well as more polished. It's definitely worth it if it's free, and I personally would pay the $5 price without hesitation.

A Hat in Time is a 3D platformer that reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy, Psychonauts, and other games of similar statue. It's adorable, your character Hat Kid is fun to control, and the game can't seem to keep a coherent thought in its head for more than a few minutes at a time so you get lots of variety. It's not too long and not too hard, but the levels are fun and interesting to explore.

Add a surprisingly well-presented story and I ended up caring for the characters involved, especially in the final stage. The last decision I ended up spending upwards of five minutes thinking before finally making the choice. Maybe that's just me being a sentimental sap, but this doesn't happen for every game.

In summary, A Hat in Time is a Good Game. I would highly recommend it and I'm looking forward to those promised free two extra chapters later this year.

EDIT: I actually can't believe I forgot about the soundtrack! I'm a sucker for good soundtracks, and this game certainly has one. The tracks range from upbeat and cheerful to tense and spooky to driving and climactic, and they're all great. The soundtrack also comes highly recommended by me, some random guy on the internet!

Scanner Sombre's name fits. You use a Scanner (LIDAR, to be specific) to "light" your way through a cave, and the atmosphere is very Sombre.
The core mechanic - using LIDAR to generate point clouds instead of actually being able to see where you're going - is innovative and well executed, and the sound design complements it well.
But unfortunately, that's all the game has going for it. A solid core is present, but nothing builds off it. There is technically a narrative, but it's all over the place, told entirely through text as the protagonist thinks to themself, and the twist at the end is horribly cliche. There are no additional gameplay mechanics besides the core, a few jump scares, and some occasional sort-of platforming-ish segments.
It's very pretty and atmospheric, and I liked the core mechanic, but I don't believe there's enough substance in this 3 hour (if you really stretch it) game to be worth $12, or even the $10 I got it for on sale. This feels like a tech demo extended into a full game without adding anything besides more cave.
Overall, if it goes on sale for 50% off or more, it's a brief, atmospheric walking sim (but without a good story). Otherwise, it's really just a bloated tech demo.

Brief but satisfying. INSIDE plays similarly to LIMBO, the studio's previous game, but with more polish on the graphics and general creepiness factor. None of the puzzles were particularly challenging, and the story is perhaps a little too abstract, but the overall tone is a wonderfully escalating sense of unease that doesn't lose steam even at the ending.
For around 3 hours depending on how you stretch it, and with very little replay value, INSIDE may or may not be worth full price ($20). I would personally pay $10 for INSIDE, which I did when it was on sale.
Overall, if you liked LIMBO you'll like INSIDE, which is a step up in basically all directions. Just consider waiting for a sale before spending.

XCOM is turn based strategy done right. The AI is smart, the units are nicely customizable and very different, and you get surprisingly attatched to your soldiers even though they never speak aside from offering one of several varieties of "I heard you" when you issue an order.

There's not a whole lot else I can offer: if you enjoy strategy, this is the best strategy game I've ever found. It's deep (both tactically and storywise) and it will last you several playthroughs with different experiences each time. Yes, it's worth throwing money at.

Yes, Psychonauts is worth its price to play. It's a fantastic game that really immerses you in the world and the minds of its characters. Gameplay ranges from functional to good, and there are plenty of collectibles for completionists or just to figure out more of the story and personality of the characters. It's crazy fun for a low price.

While some of the platforming aspects might be a bit lacking or overly difficult (read: Meat Circus), overall the game is excellent. The story is good, but where Psychonauts really shines is in characterization and sheer craziness. Every character that gets more than a minute or so of screen time has a fully developed personality - especially when you get to enter their mind and poke around in there. The mental landscapes are undoubtably the best part of the game - great scenery combines with the character of whomerver's head you happen to be in to create an absolutely unique experience.

My favorite level is Lungfishopolis. The fact that this is the name of a level is really quite amazing.

A compelling story about interesting characters that is stuck in a very unfortunate UI. This game came out nearly 15 years ago at the time of this writing, and it's definitely showing its age. Regardless of the controls, it's still worth it for the story and the ability to know what's going on when playing the sequel(s), which are also good games.

This is also a classic point-and-click adventure game, which means WALKTHROUGHS! A lot of the puzzles make no sense, and I am unashamed to have played with a full guide open on my second monitor.

So yeah. Good story, gameplay was a bit lacking. Overall a solid 7ish out of 10. Worth it for $10!

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey (the sequel to The Longest Journey) is an adventure/puzzle/sort-of-actiony story-based game that tells the tale of two worlds colliding. The characters are interesting, the dialogue is well written and well acted, the graphics are good, and the UI has been completely overhauled - a huge improvement on the previous game in all ways. It does expect the player to be familiar with terms and characters fromt he previous game, but I only played about halfway through the previous game and I wasn't too lost.

Dreamfall is the good kind of sequel: one that transcends the original and builds off its ideas without remaining shackled to old UI, graphics, and voice-acting. The only problem I have with the game is that combat is poorly implemented, clunky, and either too easy or too difficult, depending on the fight. Luckily, the combat sections are short and few, so that's not a dealbreaker.

If you've already played The Longest Journey, I heartily reccomend Dreamfall. If you don't want to deal with the previous game, you might want to read a quick summary first.

It's almost as if the puzzles were designed not to be solved, and there is no hint mechanic.
A puzzle game that cannot be completed without a guide is not a good game.
