cringy in the way that they try too hard to fit into common anime-tropes while also trying to be as meta as possible, even using words like "cringe".

they also try too hard to make the main character relateable for everyone, he is shy and flushable at the same time as he is a badass, coldhearted and skeptical. It feels like they had his name on a big whiteboard and everyone could just write any trait beneath and they'd do their hardest to add it.
