Unfortunately I cannot recommend playing War Thunder in it's current state, this is hard to comprehend as I have 700+ hours and have spent over 500$ on this game in the past 3 years. War Thunder has great potential and is one of very few games in the genre worth trying, however as I've progressed, spent time and money in this game it has only gotten worse to the point where it has become unplayable for me.

Some of the reasons why I cannot recommend this game:
- The economy, specifically the non-premium in game currency (called SL), can only be described as torturous. It is actively trying to make it hard for players to play the game with their favorite vehicles. Mind boggling, honestly.
- The maps are terrible, spawn camping happens every game, capture points are randomly situated they have no strategic or defensive value and for modern vehicles some maps are just way too small.
- Modifications are pointless, researching a fire extinguisher 50 times makes no sense. If a country builds their first tank with a fire extinguisher, you'd think they'd make it standard for all subsequent vehicles. Exact same issue with rockets, bombs, G suits... etc. Why would I need to research the same rocket for 10 different planes separately?
- Developers do not listen and think they know what's best for their fan base, they obviously don't.
- Gameplay does not promote any sort of teamwork or strategy, most matches are basically rock-paper-scissors (tanks-planes-helicopters) and "run and gun" until one team is wiped out.
- No ranked matches or matchmaking, there are squadron battles, and I have played them for a bit, but it's hard to organize and it would be great to have a ranked system and to match players based on their level of skill.

Although my motivation for writing this review is based on recent events, I have stopped playing the game a couple of months ago for the reasons outlined above, and I don't intend on returning based on the game's current state.
