Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

I enjoyed the first Hotline Miami more than any sane person should have, however, the second game is so much better, in so many ways (and the first one is amazing) Hotline Miami 2 is a game made to stick for a good challenge, especially if you are a completionist. Savage, Brutal and Ominous are some words that come to mind to describe the sequel and last game of the Hotline Miami series.

Gameplay & Mechanics
The first aspect I would say that Hotline Miami 2 is better than the first one is the game engine, It was going to be made with the same one as the first game, but Abstraction Games imported it into the SilverWare engine, and it is so much better, a lot smoother, and natural than the first game, clearing a level on a single combo has never felt so swift and slick.
The only thing I dislike is the fact that all levels have an assigned character and a small number of masks and effects, in comparison to the first game, this is sort of a downgrade, but it is essential to the storyline.

Music, Graphics & Atmosphere
The Music in this game feels a lot more complex and plentiful than in the first game, with even more artists and some old ones making their contributions to the soundtrack, I even have some of these tracks on my Spotify un-ironically.
The Graphics feel cleaner and less film-grainy than on the first delivery of the series, the sprites are smoother and more consistent.
The Atmosphere is a really important factor, and Hotline Miami 2 lands right on the spot, since moment one, the first cutscene of the game you can feel this heavy, ominous, atmosphere surrounding the cast, this rebellious yet insecure feeling that suddenly invades you, cannot be described with words.

History & Characters
The History is decent, not any better than the one in the first game, although I must reckon, there are some good plot twists on the line, the story is not that straightforward and you have to pay attention to understand completely what is going on. The Characters, on the other hand, are so damn good (most of them) you develop a bond with them, and unlike the first game on the series, they actually develop throughout the story, the dialogues and cutscenes are pretty decent if I say so myself.

In conclusion, I can not encourage you to buy this game enough, it is worth more than it's actual price and I've had countless hours of fun with this game, after completing all achievements and getting a high score on so many levels I can assure you, that this game is not only worth your time, it is so much more, the perfect way to end the Hotline Miami series.
