iRacing is one of the two sim racing titles I can wholly recommend if you want high-end simulation with good multiplayer racing, iRacing's emphasis currently being slight towards the previously mentioned.

iRacing has two main factors that make the simulation the service to beat: Well-structured online racing capabilities with a little bit of stewarding, removing the worst cases from the service and multiple disciplines to choose from, ranging from NASCAR, short-track oval racing, dirt oval, rallycross and classic road racing categories such as touring cars, GT-machinery, open-wheel formulas and le mans prototypes. This catalogue of cars and tracks, which iRacing has been growing since the start of the service means their selection is one of the widest on the sim racing market.

You should consider investing your time into iRacing if you want to race online, have the chance to find races around the clock no matter what timezone you are in and are ready to spend time into practice and analyzing your driving to become a better driver.
If you are looking for a sunday drive, right now you should still look somewhere else, although the AI racing capabilities in iRacing are being developed nearly every month and more cars and tracks are being added to AI mode all the time.
