Played a lot of hours on the MTG: Arena client and I have to say the game is amazing and a ton of fun. However, it's absolutely not beginner-friendly. The starter decks are dumpster fire trash, and it's very difficult to craft wildcards. Comparing it to Legends of Runeterra, where you get a ton of wildcards by doing almost nothing.

On top of that, this game rewards you for playing everyday. You miss a day? You're screwed as a beginner. It took me a long time to craft a good deck with the meta changes. I took a few months break and my cards had no value anymore, had to craft another brand new deck. You can't argue I can play my old deck in Historic now because Historic has a lot of shenanigans involving OP cards from WAY back.

Not only do you have to do your dailies, but some of them are very hard to do or unfun. For example, say you only enjoy playing one color because you are limited to the starter decks and let's be real all of them are bad. If the daily involves playing 30 red monsters and red starter is trash it's gonna be a hellride for you.

The prices involving buying card packs are ridiculous, I know they are very expensive in real life, but this is a digital game. In my opinion, they shouldn't value the same price.

Played a little to see what's up and the meta is very weird. Back when I was playing, the whole meta was fun with Ravnica, War of the Spark and Eldraine, truly peak fun. Cards had good designs, good lore and nice synergies.

Wrapping it up, I'm very sad the game is so harsh on new players or players that are trying to make a comeback, it pushes them away completely, make crafting wildcards easier, make packs cheaper, either make dailies easier like just logging in or remove them completely and add other ways to gain gold/xp/cards, rework starter decks to actually be useful, add more events that are fun and giveaway not ONE card but whole decks.

Not everything has to cost money. Monetize cosmetics instead of cards. This game requires you own every card to actually play it so why would you lock cards behind a paywall, that's the pure definition of pay to win. Collaborate with Amazon Prime Gaming, I got into MTG heavily because of the free Amass Deck back in War of the Spark. Since then nothing happened between you and Amazon.

I can't recommend this game, if you're new and are trying to get into it, don't. You're wasting your time, it'll take you a month to craft 4 meta cards, and by that time, the old sets rotate and become unavailable in standard play.
