I rarely write reviews, much less negative ones, I've been playing Soulslike for a decade now and I've seen countless game trying to be challenging, very often this result in a frustrating experience that rarely feels rewarding like From Software does it.

Now where does that put Lies of P ? Well the game is excellent for the first three areas, sure there is barely a challenge during exploration but the areas themselves are very pleasing to look at, the game is very optimized which has become a rarity these days.

However, past that zone the game suddenly turns to one of the most superficial soulslike I've ever played and you realise that early on was just lightning in a bottle, the areas become tedious to explore, not hard, tedious as they go the DS2 pre Sotfs way: Dumping twenty billion of things on top of your ass at once. You then finish that tedious process and think "At least the bosses and elites were enjoyable!" Well sucks to be you from now on every boss has two phases with full HP bar for each, AOE spam and various move that feel cheap.

All in all Lies of P wears its name perfectly because it will lie to your face about being good for a while until it drops the facade and you realise you were in fact playing a middle schooler's attempt at designing a challenging Soulslike that cost 60 bucks.

Edit after picking it up again out of spite: It doesn't get better. It gets worse in fact.
