It's fun but I can't recommend it (yet).

The early game is almost impossible, often dying before the first boss if you don't build optimally.
But if you build optimally there is basically no stopping you.

Way better than i anticipated - especially for an Early Access title

I have a literal ♥♥♥♥-load of rogue-likes, rogue-lites, card games and deck builders in my library and I think this game is my favourite out of ALL of them, giant amount of content, super nice dungeons and with its rune system just a sheer endless amount of ways to build a viable deck.

11/10 would buy several copies if I could

EDIT:
There are some QoL features missing, like a search bar when building decks, but you can still search by keywords.

Also the Dev is super active in the discussions and explained plans on what to add or why they don't add something, so if you're unsure, just ask them there!

While it still has bugs and glitches on a lot of corners and is definetly not what people had hoped for back then.
I can really recommend this game if you can overlook some T-poses or screaming citizens.

The story is great and the characters engaging.
The gameplay is fluid and really fun.

a small caviat is the melee combat which could definetly be better.

but all in all, the world and characters are wonderfully constructed and the atmosphere all over makes this game despite its faults to one of the more enjoyable experiences i had with games.

Currently I can't recommend the game
yes it is supposed to be challenging but the way it's implemented with almost unfair difficulty is just not fun.

pair it with the mandatory increase in difficulty after each Book (Level) it just gets worse and worse.

I think i could excuse it more, if at least all characters could be unlocked through leveling up, but two are locked behind Levels.

And if you already struggle with the first two, you dont want to slog through the third without getting to change up *that* much.

these games live by their characters and skills.
So unlocking skills for characters you dont even have feels really bad.

I'll still keep playing it, it is fun, it's just unfair to more casual approaches and people who dont optimise every single step.

i dont hope that they "fix" it, i just hope they add something, like difficulty levels or aids for struggling players in the future

It's a good game if you dont have these unreasonable expectations many people here seem to have

Wonderful

Better than the previous one, still a long way to be a really good arena fighter.

End result: Fun to play, but by far not the best.
