Final Fantasy 16 is overall a good game with some dislikable features & poor graphical optimization. I think the battle systems is fun but some enemies/bosses just feel like damage sponges. The game is extremely linear, while there may be large areas to explore at times there is no open world to freely explore. Just different areas you can travel to while doing the main quest or visit previous areas using a warp stone. The Eikon battles look cool but feel like interactive cutscenes which I dislike. The music and story line seem great so far and I will update this review once I have finished the game. I muse also note that this game feels nothing like a typical Final Fantasy game. Finally, this game just runs like pure garbage and the graphics do not justify it. I run it on a GTX1080 on lowest settings and get around 30-50 FPS but have seen it dip to 14 fps occasionally. Even when I played this game on the PS5 it ran like garbage. This game is in need of some serious optimization because again the graphics simply do not look that great to justify such poor performance. I have plenty of games in my Steam library that I feel look just as good if not better than this game but are running at 80+FPS

WOW, the devs for this game fixed the stutter issue just a few weeks after I gave up trying to play this game. Haven't seen such dedicated support for a game before from developers. Kudos to you fixing it so quickly! Great game too by the way.

BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL ENGLISH VOICE ACTING PLEASE! It seriously sounded hella cool and I can't for the life of me understand why they took it out. That's really my only gripe about this game. There should have been an option to choose what language you wanted. I played this game back on Gamecube when I was a teenager and really enjoyed it and still do. It's a very unique RPG with gorgeous graphics and music. Highly recommend it if you have never played this game before.

It's a new game with some nostalgic vibes, Music and atmosphere is relaxing. Graphics are just like an N64 game and come with a blur feature to add to that old classic tube TV look. I personally like playing with it off. It's a great looking game either way though. Some of the platforming can feel a bit frustrating but rewarding when you get it right. Has a 1st person viewing feature to get a good look at the level which is very helpful. It's a very charming game as, I like it better than the Spyro remastered trilogy honestly.

It's FF7, probably the most Iconic RPG ever made. I am currently doing a play through of the Remake but I don't think it holds a candle to the original, even when just considering the first disc only the original is STILL the king. The biggest thing that may turn off new players to this game are the graphics. There are some really cool mods to improve this though. I have come to adore the graphics however, especially the gorgeous pre-rendered backgrounds. I have huge nostalgia for this game as well. I played it with my uncle and cousin when I was around 8 years old back in 1998. I thought it was a lot of fun when I played it and have loved it ever since. The music is amazing and really sets the tone for every scene. The story is original and has a very good plot that will keep you engaged through the entire game. It is an emotional story about saving the planet. There is a bit of a love story here as well, but I won't speak much further on this. If you haven't played this game before do yourself a favor and look past the graphics, mod it if you must but don't miss out on the original. Even with no voice acting I felt more emotion playing this game than the Remake for sure.

So I originally played this on my PS5 (that I ended up selling) and had only gotten to the coliseum part and lost the main battle so sorta gave up at the time. I recently got it on a good sale for 28 bucks and thought I would give it another shot because I felt like I was really missing out on the rest of the story. Well I must say that I didn't miss out on as much as I thought I did. The game is so padded out with boring side missions they probably make up the majority of the game! There is literally two side quests where you have to find a group of kids. IT'S THE SAME MISSION TWICE!! There is even a mission where you have to find 3 cats in town. I guess Square was running low on ideas of something? Anyways I will make a list of pros and cons for this game.

Pros
-Good graphics, world and character models look amazing
-Good music, nostalgia will be felt
-Like a lot of the sound effects

Cons
-Maps and quest icons are confusing, it is also very easy to get lost and turned around in this game even though you have been to an area before. Maps need a better key system. The Chocobo sign maps look completely different than regular maps too for some reason adding to the confusion.
-Too many boring side quests (my main gripe about the game) most of them are fetch quests, none of them are interesting or add to the story in any meaningful way. Or they are just some annoying mini game.
-The materia system in this game feels overwhelming. There is a lot of new materia in this game and it can get confusing as to whether or not it is useful and some of it doesn't feel very useful at all. Like ATB materia, I can just use haste instead so whats the point?
-Bad/corny voice acting. I'm not super bothered by it, it's a Japanese game after all but can be annoying at times.
-Another one of my biggest gripes about this game is it just feels WAY TOO DIFFERENT than the original game. It barley even resembles the first disc of FF7. It's like 90% a different game. In my honest opinion it would have been better to just remaster the original the way it is but with better graphics.
-I have mixed feelings about the battle system. It feels fun but at the same time I feel like there are two types of scenarios when battling. You either steam roll the enemies or just hit them and cast magic on the HP sponge until it's HP slowly goes down and you win either way. Nothing ever felt too difficult. I only lost one battle to the Hell House because I didn't know about the battle mechanics. Once I found them out he was a piece of cake.

In conclusion I think this game is a padded out cash grab playing on peoples love for nostalgia. I don't think it's the worst game ever made, I had a decent time playing it but it was nothing like I was expecting it to be. It is completely unrecognizable when compared with the first game disc. I would give it a 6/10. I am going to beat it soon, but once I do I will never be playing this game again. I have been a Final Fantasy fan most of my life so I feel an obligation to beat this game. It's just really sad what they did to it. Hopefully Rebirth will be better once it releases on PC. I would recommend just watching all the important cut-scenes on YouTube instead of picking this game up if you're interested in it, but if you're a die hard fan like me it will be a slog and not very recognizable to the original. This game is all show and no substance.

I'm about to finish my first play through of this game and I have to say that I really enjoyed playing this game. I love all the old school SNES sound effects and the music is really good as well, most of it is very relaxing and catchy with a few annoying tracks here and there. It's not a very hard game even though I played it on the hardest setting. Only one of the Benevodons actually killed me then I looked up a guide and found out it was one of the harder ones you should fight later anyways. There is a lot of replay value as well with all the other characters you can play as. I think one play through is enough for me at the moment though. If you haven't played it I definitely recommend it. Looking forward to Visions of Mana now :D

I tried multiple times to get into this game and I just can't. It's really boring, and there is so much meaningless dialogue in this game that even using the fast forward option can take forever. There is just way too much unnecessary dialogue. I started on the merciless difficulty and got one shot by the first boss and I don't think I can even grind for experience yet but that combined with the vastly annoying amount of dialogue was the last straw for me. Maybe this game gets better 20 hours in or something? Idk but the dialogue for me was really off putting and I like turn based RPG games too. I'm an old school Final Fantasy fan and I can't even stomach this game.

It takes literally two seconds to make a PSN account and login to it. It's not like it requires a completely different launcher like Ubisoft or EA make you use. I hate Origin. Halo makes you login to your Microsoft account which is fine and takes very little time unless you're a mouth breather apparently. All the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about needing to log into your account should be redirected at gaming companies requiring you to use multiple platforms on top of Steam despite you purchasing the game on Steam. The game is alright though, it does not deserve the hate from a simple login in my opinion but apparently that's difficult or something.

I liked the idea of this game, the music is very relaxing but there was a few things that made me refund it. I created my room and when I was finished, it felt sort of pointless. There was no goal to reach, no way for me to improve to earn a way to make my room bigger so I could decorate more or unlock new stuff. It's extremely basic seems like you can experience everything the game has to offer in about 15 minutes. It was a very cheap game at least, but after what I played I couldn't see myself playing it again as I have no reason too. Might be fun for some people, but is too basic for my taste.
