I'll be honest here, I bought into the hype from a certain internet forum.

Finished more than half of the game and I am not sure what else is there to discover so I look up guides and indeed there isn't anything else. The rest of achievements are just very specific dialogues in certain cycles.

It was a fun 7 hour but I don't think it is worth the price tag. With this money I could dump on Dota 2 skins.

It is similar to another VN I have played before and that is "YOU and ME and HER". I never finish it after the first route. This one is a lot more bearable simply because I don't need to read subtitles every 2 seconds. Nice voice acting though (tis one).

I have only played Yazuka 0 so i don't know much about the story but this game story is very subpar in comparison with Y0. The beginning drags out a lot and the ending ends in an instant. Though incidentally that'd be a redeemable quality because the game doesn't need to be unnecessarily consistently long. A lot of stuffs in the story requires you to finish "minigames" in order to have enough resources and move on and that slows down the flow a lot. If the grinding is any a bit fun, I would enjoy it. It is not fun. And did I mention how stupid the story is? It is convoluted and it seems like they want to make you feel like they hit something hard. "You think I was straight? I was gay all along" kind of plot.

The side stuff is okay though unlike what I did in Y0, I am not invested in any minigames here (or have attempted) beside the mandatory "minigames". Karaoke is fine but the songs are lacking and the only highlight is Adachi's Machine Gun Kiss because the completion for it is very challenging and very fun to keep trying. There are not many songs so....

The gameplay is not that engaging. Despite "Presented by SEGA" and having "Persona 5" along with "Dragon Quest" references, the gameplay is incredibly tedious and not fun. Enemies have affinities but you won't know what it is unless you remember every Sojidex entries. Personally, I only remember the Pier Reviewer because that is semi miniboss and it takes forever to kill the guy. When you figure out the right team combination, your next obstacle is the boss' health bar. IT DRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGS. Even the most "difficult" boss fight in the game is just: hit, heal, don't even bother debuffing, and heal. I think that's what they mean by "gameplay loop".

The characters are okay. I like Kasuga and his party. Maybe that's why I stick around for 80 hours. Or maybe holistically the jumbled mess keeps me around. I check my save time and it is only 40 hours so I guess I fall a sleep during the game a lot.

Also, the dub is great.

I would say you might have some fun but not that much fun.

I like this game. But it is really hard to recommend due to lots of stuffs stuffed inside the game. It has horror, gore, Mystery with the M, jokes, sex jokes, cringe, Cringe with the C.

The amnesia trope is overdone in a lot of media at this point so if you are into that sort of thing again then this might be a good fit. But, you are required to have really high tolerance for anime trope and embarrassment to get through this without turning off the game.

The beginning of the game might be lacking in the motives that keep you going because there aren't anything explained. After that, maybe you will start to be invested in whatever happening in the story because it gets more and more bizarre. I got to the worst ending first and it was confusing because I don't know if I really have to go back or not so that really needs your engagement.

For 20 hours and on off cringe/tone deaf moments, get it on sale.

It ends with a dance off.

Lots of problem with the story in P5 is still here due to obvious reasons. However, introduction of new characters (and other new stuffs) distracts you a bit so as to bear the badness of post-Kamoshida. The game difficulty is insanely easy even on Merciless. The only reason you would die is because you don't know the enemy affinity and get one shot with weakness. But afraid not, the game is even more lenient to "gift" you Izanagi-no-Okami at the beginning. I guess that is the intention of this whole P5R shtick. They want you to do NG+ as quick as possible.

Also, really nice music. Mementos track is whole new by not being 5 second loops when you reach a certain depth.

Would recommend solely for the music.

EDIT: Now with Kasumi in the game, it might just make a cringe lord blush. The game's writing is never that profound at the first place, but now with an extra simp plant, it is unbearable. Behold, half of new extra content is a bland girl obsessing over you and middle school tier plot device to weave her loosely into the story.

Have lots of fun so far. It is pretty much a button smashing fest. You do feel the urgency to get the objectives sometimes that you may forget to appreciate the background.

Grind your officer to a higher level then start with hard mode. That is how the game is meant to play. Just barely a few scenarios in and you already max out one of yours already. That would incentives you to either min-maxxing your officer even more or switching to another one. Characters that don't get to join the battlefield will tell you that they want to fight, so don't disappoint them.

It could have been a bit more. But I guess that is what they aim for. We cannot just do everything.
