As a long-time fan of Danganronpa and the team behind it, I was eager to dive into Tribe Nine—and I was not disappointed. While the game has received mixed reception, I genuinely believe it offers a unique and rewarding experience that deserves more recognition.

The characters feel alive, from dialogue scenes to XB battles. Unlike many gacha games, Tribe Nine encourages exploration without punishing players with stamina limits. I never feel restricted and genuinely enjoy attacking enemies, finding rewards, and progressing at my own pace. No daily login pressure! You can enjoy events, dive in when you want, and still feel rewarded. Also, the music is top-notch and I really enjoy the style.

My only real complaint has to come down to difficulty; however, I recognize that quite a few players are struggling. I'd actually prefer the enemies to be stronger. I played for 10 hours with five other people, fought all the infamous monsters, and not a single one of us died. Perhaps the game is more difficult on mobile, which I have no intention to try. Otherwise, the tension gauge is a fun mechanic and I enjoy the balance between chaining combos and utilizing your ultimates at specific points in the battles.

For such a small game (only 5GB!), Tribe Nine is packed with content. I'm eagerly enjoying the story and was hooked by the unconventional prologue. The animation team knocked it out of the park, and the XB battles feel like the Danganronpa trials or Rain Code's Mystery Labyrinths.

Honestly, I don’t think Tribe Nine deserves a Mostly Negative rating. The devs have done fantastic work, and I haven’t enjoyed a gacha game this much since 2019. If you’re tired of samey gacha games packed with convoluted plots and excessive fan service, give this a shot. It’s different—and that’s exactly why it’s worth playing.
