(Quick Free Weekend review, may be updated later.)

Tried it (and beat a loop) over the Free Weekend... it's hard to put down. A multiplayer-ish (optional) roguelike deckbuilder, its “enemy placement matters” gimmick works pretty well in synergy with the heroes’ classes and their ranges. The crunchy 12-floor-long runs feel surprisingly good paced thanks to the neatly tweaked progression curve–it only came to a stale in the final boss I got to, The Cook, with a forced tour de force (120HP that can only be chipped 5 damage at a turn) that took a bit of the game’s overall experience.

Presentation-wise the cardboard approach works well where performance would be a concern, but it’s gorgeously art-directed too regardless: animation, UI, cards design, icons, etc. make for a cohesive world build–even if voice acting can be somewhat detrimental to it at times.

Wishlisted, will be included in my next batch buy.
