The game is great, but it almost seems like the tutorial is designed to make you quit. It's really poorly implemented and one of the main goals is to build a motorbike, which is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that I almost quit when I made it. It was so clunky and sounded weird and the physics of it were all wrong. My thought was "really? this feels like a game from 1998..." Luckily I stuck with it and got to the fun part of the game, which is designing ships and attacking ♥♥♥♥ with them.

They REALLY need to work that tutorial, because I'm certain it's turned less persistent players away.

A simple game that makes you feel an odd sense of comfort while you play it. Incredible art and music direction. If you enjoy ABZU you will likely enjoy this. Highly recommend it.

Plays more like a Lost Planet game than a Resident Evil game. Other then the...dodgy dodge mechanic that only seems to work half the time the gameplay is alright. More of an arcade third person shooter than a survival horror that Resident Evil is known for.

If you think you would enjoy a Lost Planet feeling game with the lore of Resident Evil game, give it a shot.

The gameplay is phenominal but the story is one of the worst I've seen in a long time. There is zero character development, I feel neither positive or negative emotion for anything that happens to any of the characters. The entire plot is a plot hole that makes no sense at all. The motivations of the characters and decisions they make are completely illogical. The quests are mostly fetch quests.

But the most insane thing, is that despite this game having specatular combat mechanics, the final boss fight is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ QTE. I facepalmed with one hand while pressing the ~7 buttons required to beat the boss you spend a solid 30 minutes of the final mission reaching.

If it weren't for the highly entertaining gameplay this game would be utter crap. Do not get this game for the story.

For everyone complaining about frame issues/stutters despire having a good GPU....do this. It works for some reason.

Load into your saved game so you're into the actual game. Hold windows key and press L, log back into windows, open the game back up from the taskbar, congrats, your game is now optimized.

Basing the game on its current state, I cannot recommend it. Even with a GTX 1070 there are major FPS crashes, skipping and outright crashes. The game will run smooth as silk for the first few hours, but as you explore more performance will slowly start deteriorating until it literally just starts crashing.

There is a fix by deleting the save file cache, but this is basically "cheating" as it resets all loot. I shouldn't have to resort to something like this to make the game playable (and even this is just temporary until you rediscover/change the environment).

There's an amazing game in here that won't let us play it. If they can fix the optimization, I will edit this review. As of now, the game is borderline unplayable. Do not buy.

Edit: So over a year later, the game is DEFINITELY better than it was, and I can safely recommend it. You will still have FPS issues once you get beyond a certain number of hours played, but it's bearable now and shouldn't cause any outright crashes. Playing on medium settings @ 1440p with a 1070 I was still having frame skips. As long as you have a beefy card or dont mind lower settings it should be fine.

It's just sitting collecting dust for me at the moment. The wireless has way too much lag/fps crashes to be playable, and I can't use the direct wire because of the setup of my apartment (TV is mounted to a floating wall). Maybe if I move and I can plug it directly into my computer it will be usable, but in the meantime it's just another thing on my desk.

There's nothing wrong with the game, but I still couldn't bring myself to finish it. For some reason it just didn't engage me enough to keep playing in longer than 10-20 minute bursts. If you don't really care much for 2-D platformers or stealth games steer clear, otherwise go for it. For me it just felt like a chore to play until I just gave up when it dawned on me that I wasn't enjoying it.

Great story (as far as video games go) held hostage by horrible gameplay.
I'd recommend looking up a walkthrough on youtube for the missions where you're a kid, they are just terrible level design and nearly had me uninstalling the game.

If you can get it in a bundle or for $1-2 go for it, otherwise don't bother.
