The Kingdom of Eulalia was founded on the southeastern lands of Norland by the Varn people. It was a humble, partially isolated, landlocked yet sizeable province with decent resources and a couple of surrounding villages to support its development.

It was led by King Veloso I. On a night stroll, the king's wife, Rudwila, was kidnapped by a group of Makha bandits from a local camp.

This event changed the course and policy of the kingdom and its nobles. King Veloso I immediately started charm operations with his neighbours, formalizing an alliance with Varn and Makha neighbours, making it an alliance of three kings. This opened new trade routes and defence pact opportunities, but also caught the eye of more ambitious powers.

To counter predatory behaviour from outside forces and resolve the most pressing economic and political issues, the king's brother, Jorge I, started developing a strong agriculture and forestry industry, while the younger brother, Corvinus I, allocated some of the treasury to hire mercenaries and quickly rescue the Queen.

The rescue was a success and Rudwila's presence allowed for a quick intellectual and technological development. With this Corvinus argued it was time to establish a more reliable and loyal army, dismissing the reliance on mercenary work to serve the kingdom's projects.

Eulalia's people were never strong believers in the church. The Varns have their own gods and spirits, prefer to worship nature herself. But to get access to new resources, better deals and aquire weapons during the initial stage of the army, the king needed to be in good standing with the Matriarch and her representative, bishop Lyubotomir.

The three kings grew together even in conflict. The alliance grew to include more members while the three initial founders remained privileged. Time passed to see most provinces in the East unite. Even one new noble house was founded by Veloso I and Rudwila daughter, Olena I, which was also fortunate to have neighbouring kingdoms led by women. But while the East united, the West did the same, even if their alliance was not as unanimous. They vied for influence.

War was inevitable.

The Western king started sending threats, seeding discord and spreading rumors in the Eastern kingdoms, looking to pit the alliance against itself. Eulalia's lords remained victims to discontent, although loyalty remains high.

The same can't be said about the Western alliance. Veloso I took advantage of this, hiring spies to steal treasuries and bribe lords with grievences against their liege. At this time, kingdoms have been provoked to rebel against the alliance and ambitious heirs threaten to rebel against their fathers' rule. Some even claim the previous Western king died not from sickness but murder by one of Veloso's subjects, but the Matriarch remains pleased, so it is either a lie or was done successfully in secrecy.

All this is happening in the land of Norland, where micromanaging a superpower conflict is not enough. Warlords and wildlife also raid Eulalia's lands, and smaller alliances take part indirectly in the biggest conflict while protecting their own interests.

The game requires more estability and there are always things to add and to balance, but already makes for very interesting stories and unique fantasies that can rival other games.
