Great game, great story, great characters.

Get ready to cry

What a hidden gem, wow.
The story is indeed not linear but holy heck, do you need to be spoon-fed everything?! Read a book! Enjoy the ambiguity and the abstract of this awesome story! Also, at a certain point in the game you get access to the Bestiary that gives you more context and more interesting things about the world of "There is No Light" which is just an extra plus for more immersion.
I really liked the combat style, you end the game still learning it and having fun with it. The healing ability (plus the medkits) was strange at first but the challenge was really good and, in my opinion, faithful to the context of the story.
The art is just top-tier - god-tier - and the maps are sensational, I visited multiple places multiple times because of how perfect they are. Enjoy exploring every nook and cranny, it's so worth it getting lost in this game!
The OST is also so good, each map and each area has it's own music and you can clearly see that a lot of time and thought was given to each.

I highly recommend this game for those who like RPG-Metroidvania games and that, of course, like good pixel art. This is definitely a game I will revisit in the future, this time in New Game +.

'Song of the Deep' is a Metroidvania game, featuring a female protagonist, puzzles and narrative. It is an atmospheric game, though relatively short.

The good:
- Cute story, with lots of exploring
- Beautiful art design and mapping, very creative and well done
- The OST

The bad:
- The puzzles are repetitive
- The controls are finicky
- There are bugs in the game which, although it won't keep you from playing it, can be VERY annoying

Ultimately, I was a bit disappointed with this game, because I was expecting so much more from it. The story is a little bland, the controls can be very irritating, and you can get bored after a while. Although this is a game that uses exploration as one of its assets, the maps are small for what they could be.

Though, I recommend this game because it was entertaining enough. The narrative was very well done, the soundtrack is lovely, and the visuals are beautiful; these were the things which, to me, saved the game.

If you are interested in this game, buy it on sale.

This is one of the best games that I have ever played.
I just recently finished the game. Again. The first time, I downloaded it and I liked it so much that I just had the need to buy it from Steam and play it. I felt that I needed to help all who worked so hard for this wonderful game!
This game is just perfect, in my opinion. The story is spectacular, the characters are whole, the level design is very enticing, the bosses are awesome... The game, overall, is beautiful.
This game has it all and the best part, you don't want it to end. If you finish the game and you don't have all the achievements you will want to get them all and explore the rest of the world!
The worst part is that it has an end and we were led to believe that there would be a sequel but, unfortunately, the company is no more and the sequel was never made. Still, I have hope...!
Would I recommend this game? Absolutely! It's a great game, doesn't matter your age, your gender, I truly believe you will love this game, just like I and many others did.
Do yourself a favor and play this game. You won't regret it!
