Actual review: Game seems solid, a great mix of coop fps with characters meeting almost every play style. Strong RPG elements. The game definitely worth the original price, and this is now all yours, for FREE.

Let this be a lesson to all developers and publishers out there: Do Not Install ROOTKITS with your game.

Best ARGP I played since Grim Dawn. Only 3.5 hours in at this time of writing, I can already see hundreds of hours down the road with this. Well worth the price.

COOP mode too!

[Update at 65 hours: I was right, this game deserve much more love. Storyline was 'okay', gameplay is solid if you like old school mix and match gear rpg like diablo2, then you will love this game as well]

Game was good, the parkour part isn't a problem, but the headbob and cutscene with jerky camera movement is.

And they had to add EPIC crap into this, steam invite/join friends wont work with latest update, have to revert to beta 1.47.2 to have it working again.

PS. Game forces you to play single player at the finale, this is the dumbest coop design I have observed since my gaming experiences....and I had been around for a very long time.... back in the pac-man days literally.

Fun relaxing co-op game. If you have a friend or wife/hubby/gf/bf to play with you, this game will brings you much joy. Just wish the defense structures are not as nerfed, right now a bit too player damage concentrated.

Update:
The ending kinda not make sense, still a good game to play it through though. Just wished there were more endings that make sense. As of right now, it feel unfinished and rushed to release the game.

If you enjoy Shawshank Redemption, you will enjoy this game.

Just make sure you have a friend to play with you.

The game should not be selling at this price...now everyone will think it sucks because it's so cheap.

This game will put many AAA+ games such as Diablo3 into shame.

Firewatch is one of those game that, the more experiences you had in life, the more it will resonate with you and leave you in your thoughts for a time to come. Its a narrative game done in perfect execution.

If you like Dear Esther, you will most likely love this game as well.

TL;DR: Firewatch is a country park hiking simulation "game" with a brilliantly weaved story that worth every penny you spent on it.

Atmosphere: 9/10

Gameplay: 6/10 (most of the 'puzzles' you can figure out instantly)

Main Story Gameplay time: 3-8 hours, depends on your playstyle

Update 4: River of Blood is finally L4D maps worthy. Did the dev switched the level design them and the creative lead? Whatever happened, Act 6 is a very enjoyable experience.

Update 3: Dec patch is the right direction, and it shows in the number of players coming back to play it. Game balancing still have some room for improvements, but the game is much more enjoyable now in Vet difficulty. The only thing is there were some bugs and crashes introduced with this update as well, sadly. The event thing is kinda good, but I expected something more like playable event campaign or at least a mission/map. Overall it got great potential now again...if only Tencent will leave it alone....that is

Update 2: The dev said they listen to the community, and they did. They patch the game exactly OPPOSITE of what the community want. Newest patch is making the game even harder than before, and they are trying to make it that you must have a full team to play finish the game. If you only have 1 friend to play with you, this game will disappoint and frustrate you to no end.

Update: There are 3 difficulty level in this game: Easy, Insane, and Impossible. Easy you CAN* get thru the game with 1 friend and 2 super dumb AI bots who won't rescue you while you were being incap. Insane you probably need a very dedicated team with characters complimenting each other to get thru it. Impossible are for people who got too much time at their hands and are generally immune to the feeling of defeat, and never bored to try again.

If you think this is just L4D then you are in for a wild ride. TL;DR version: L4D with RPG elements
