It's Dragon Age Origins all over again.

Prior to this I was recently feeling pretty burned out from playing video games. I barely played anything for more than 2 hours. It's either some multiplayer games like Rainbow Six Siege that I put down after a couple of matches, some old games that I installed then uninstalled after 3 hours, or a couple of games in Game Pass. I'm sure you know the feeling. At the end of the day, gaming is starting to feel like a chore for me. After a long day working, hitting your bed and doom-scrolling your Instagram, Tiktok, or whatever it is on your phone feels much more comfortable.

Then this drops.
I didn't play the EA version or even BG1 and BG2. I decided to hit Reddit and watched some of the Youtube gameplay because people are talking about this all over the place. Then I bought it. 2 hours after release.

I had no expectations whatsoever; I just booted up the game and started creating my character.
In the Character Creation, with such a huge amount of options presented to me, it never felt overwhelming. Instead, it got me thinking, "If I choose this, would it be like this, if I choose that, would it be like that" and by the time I realise, an hour and a half passed by.

I started playing, and I couldn't stop. The amount of freedom the game gave me, the attention to detail in each of your dialogue and choices. It never felt like it didn't matter. At one point throughout the game, you'll be thinking, "If I choose a different race, different class, would it be different?" you're already thinking about your second playthrough, your third playthrough, while you keep going.

This game rejuvenated my passion for gaming. At work, all I think about is playing after I got home. All I think about is how to make Lae'zel like me. All I think about is how to get circumvent a situation that I got a bad dice roll in. Halfway through, I even got my second play-through race and class all planned.

The game was released on 4 August 2023 (my time), and now I got 100 hours in by the time of writing and still counting. I'm just starting my 2nd play-through just recently, and I don't know when I'll be dropping this game.

Larian Studios clearly poured their heart, sweat, and passion into this. Enough to make other people feel that same passion in playing their game. This game is more than worthy of its $60 price tag. This game, as cliched as it sounds, is an incredible masterpiece in the last decade of gaming.

I apologise for any inconsistencies in my wording, as English is my second language.
