TLDR: Really cool idea, really annoying execution.

There are a lot of things missing that add up to a very bad feeling experience. The game includes rumble but it doesn't feel like it works at all when actually hitting the ball. When you hit the ball, it's more like your bat phases through it and you have a slight influence on where it goes. It feels awful. This paired with no smooth turning (Snap only) makes the game feel wildly unresponsive.
The game is voice on or off, no push to talk to be found. This is really annoying, on top of the game being all chat. There's no team coordination in this "VR Competition" as everything you say is being heard by both teams. It's confusing, and an overall mess when the lobbies are all children. This was to be expected as no one's playing on steam, all on quest. I heard slurs thrown around just about every match as well, and there seems to be a lack of moderation.
Also, the hub is wildly complicated and confusing. I had quests that I didn't know how to look at, and to find a ranked match you have to go into the "Hall of Heroes" I think it was called. You're forced into a lobby with people in it, with voice chat on, and you're unable to do anything while loading in to this lobby, meaning after ending a match you have to wait to load the lobby, wait to connect to a server in the lobby, then wait in matchmaking, and then load the match, and then wait for players, and then have about a minute of downtime before the match actually starts. There's no re-queue button after completing the match. All regions are on by default when matchmaking which means theoretically you can matchmake into 100+ ping servers really easily. US West was 140 or so ping even though I'm in US Central, that's absurd.
Maybe I just had a poor experience as a lot of people seem to enjoy the game, but I just found it annoying to play after 3 or so matches. I might play it again another time if it gets a bit bigger and more polished, as the general movement is pretty solid. You might as well try it if you have absolutely nothing else to do in VR.

Everything is AI and there's basically zero actual care put into the game. Complete cash-grab.

With the new predatory monetization and the stray away from cosmetic only purchases in bundles, it's just not worth full price. It went from a pretty good deal for an okayish game, good gameplay, meh story. The techland experience. Now it has free to play type monetization with the full 60 dollar price point. Modders are being shut down, and they no longer listen to the community in any sense. I feel bad for the developers who truly worked hard on this game. ♥♥♥♥ the executives.

Please go in blind, this game is beautiful. Don't let the slow text push you away, or the lack of gameplay. This story is absolutely gorgeous, and worth the 30ish minutes it takes to read through.
