I mean, what's not to love about this crazy beast? it's massive and I've been messing with it for ages.

this is pretty fun; I have quibbles, but generally the gameplay wins over them. 7/10 is about right, with some quality of life improvements it could be better, 8/10 with rice.

Well that was a lot of fun. Squad action gameplay was solid without being overly spongey; decent narrative tie off, felt a bit like a soft reboot at the end, but I'm okay with that. Resolves some big meta-story beats in a satisfying way. Smartass Rogue Rook gives it 4.6 out of 5 Arrows in the Face.

Very fun, possibly incompatible with my hyperfocus til it's done gaming style in that, to have had a more complete experience, I would have had to screw around and slack off (see a movie, sit in senic places and listen to my inner monologue) , and play the date simulator part of the game more.

Big bonus points because the dog's name includes my best friend's.

Well this was a very fun old school romp. the no map in the game IMO was a feature, and learning the maps was relatively straightforward (very little intentional paper mapping frustration in the form of Eye of the Beholder style teleporters.) the strategic combat system was simple enough to learn quickly and crunchy enough to reward the pleasure centers long dormant which were first activated by the SSI Gold Box games / Ultima 3-6, which this is definitely borrowing inspiration from liberally. Got like 33 hours out of a 13/15 cheevo completion. I definitely found myself out in the woods grinding fell hounds to level up a few times, which is probably the only mark against the overall pacing of the game.

Did you like Vampyr? You'll like this. the combat is fun enough, the exploration is fun enough, the voice acting and story is pretty compelling. I hit a quest breaking bug, in a late game side quest, annoying, but overall a solid outing.

even with multiplayer matchmaking a total mess, this game is fun as hell.

It's a pretty good series of escape rooms, high quality puzzles and challenging posers, hints are appropriately nudges.
