Best game ever and i love this game the most. Amazing memories came back after I played this beautiful game today. I played this wonderful master piece when I was 18 years old girl (2001) on my Playstation 1. A fantastic game with a fascinating story. It's my first Final Fantasy experience and still the most favorite.

The good: Basically all of the main character models, monster models as well as the special effects have been upscaled and look nice and the menus have just been cleaned up a bit too looks wise. To be honest I am not a fan of the art style they went with as the characters look quite anime like and I felt that what made this FF so unique was the rather European serious science fiction, non cartoony look, that no other FF really had. So it just felt a little off in my opinion however the models do look nice and polished so it is down to personal taste.

Some assists have been added to the game which are such a warm welcome as game play wise this is a very boring game which involves you sitting for a about 20 mins to draw magic (used for stat building) as simple as 100 fires from enemies FOR EACH CHARACTER. I feel that they are well done as you can either use all of them to fully cheat or use them more to assist you, if you want to play honest but without the unnecessary grind. I will explain some of the nuances of some of the key assists that you only find out by trial and error, so that you do not meet the same fate :).

3x game speed: I would recommend just using this for skipping GF cut scenes, limit breaks, fight animations, level grinding and especially drawing magic. This makes magic drawing much more bearable and is a good to take advantage of if you want to play honestly and not use max spells at all.

Max spells: This doesn't give you every magic spell, it simply gives you the maximum number of stock (100) for whatever spells you currently have. So you still have to obtain that spell, it just means you then don't have to worry about stats dropping because you have used 3 cures.

Max GF levels: You still have to obtain the GF yourself. However If you plan on using this do beware that if you have customised the GFs abilities by removing them with forget GF ability items and adding your own, do bear in mind that this will reset the GF's to having their all of default learnable abilities unlocked, so you would loose whatever abilities you have added yourself.

Now onto the bad: There is alot of laziness and you will feel ripped off paying 15.99. Alot of the NPC sprites have not been updated. So you will have the updated polished characters talking to literally distorted, fuzzy pixels. To make matters worse this is also the same for some of the back drops and backgrounds which haven't been changed.

For example there is a scene in Esthar city where you get in a car to go to a certain location. The car is animated as moving and so is the background. You can see how dated and horrible the moving background is compared to this remodelled car. I just feel that it ruins the whole remastered experience and you do feel cheated especially if this game holds a special place to you as it did for me.

Overall I would recommend this game to be honest, simply because of the addition of the assists. As I feel that this game is nearly unplayable in 2020 on a first time casual play through with how pointlessly grindy and slow it is and you really are able to enjoy this game without feeling like you are cheating. I have no idea on PC mods but If you can somehow get the original, slap some graphic mods on it and maybe get some assist mods like what is on this game then do that??? This game is worth buying.
