I don't make reviews for games, but I will for this one.

The House in Fata Morgana is without a doubt in my mind to be a masterpiece, but you've probably already heard this from many other sources on the internet. I can't create a write-up of why I believe the game is good, I'm no connoisseur in art, music and writing but I know how I feel, so I'll do just that.

The art I can see being the being a bit of a turn-off to those who came from other more anime visual novels than this one, and this is where House in Fata Morgana separates itself especially from those, the only way I can describe it is.. gothic and realistic? Definitely not too realistic. But what it does amazingly is set the tone, and that's something I'll say for the music later on as well, but when the game wanted to be cutesy but a bit ...off to make the reader on their toes, it did that, when there were horror elements of the game (I wouldn't say this is a horror game) and it wanted to disgust or horrify the reader, it did that as well. And at the end, I can't spoil anything here but when everything comes together and you're rewarded with absolutely stunning visuals during some scenes, it really makes your journey to that point really worth it. I even took screencaps too just so I could look back! TL;DR good art, nice.

The music grabbed me right from the first track, just like the artstyle of the game it perfectly sets the tone of the game, and I even find myself coming back to the track of "Giselle" very often. Each character has their theme and I don't know how to describe it but even though it's an languages that I don't understand (from what I read they're mostly Portuguese?) the pacing, the key of the song relates well with each character and their situation. Older tracks are used in later chapters of the game and when I hear them, it sort of makes it feel like meeting an old friend again, the association you place with these tracks is very strong. Highly recommend wearing earphones for this, 'cause they sound weird as hell. TL;DR nice musique

Writing good, 'cause if it wasn't I wouldn't even be writing this here. Only way I can describe it is Shakespearean tragedy all around. But to me, the writing's strong suit is the constant build-up and payout it gives you, especially later on in the story, in the beginning to middle you're given a series of short stories that seem only to be connected by a theme and one factor, but near the end parts of the game, those stories are expanded upon even further, character motivations make more sense, things happen for a reason and when I was skipping through the game a second time for the achievement, there were moments where I was like "Oh, damn yeah that didn't make sense to me then but it does now." For those who love drama, romance and character development, this is the game for you and it does it quite well, it misleads you, pulls your heart in every direction and at the very end, leaves you warm on the inside, satisfied for the hours you spent reading this game. I wish I could expand more, but that's spoilers, so please read it to its end. TL;DR good reads for people who like to feel sad, happy and warm at the same time, like when you pee yourself.

I'm aware I'm bad at writing reviews, but this was more for myself, The House in Fata Morgana kept me entertained for 16.5 hours at the time of reviewing, it let me feel emotions that I had been wanting to feel that only a good book can deliver. It was the first visual novel/book where I wasn't waiting for it to end, but to know more. Also I bought that damn game after my brother family-shared it with me just so I could write this review so I'mma do it and get that wallpaper background too.

Please read the story, and for Christ sake I hope they put the side stories (aside from Requiem) on PC. I hope this story touches you and warms the soul like it did for me, it's a great one.

EDIT: After buying the Switch edition to play more of the side stories (Reincarnation and Short Stories I believe), I encourage you to purchase that if you have a hankering for more Fata Morgana after finishing the main story. I have played both Requiem expands greatly on one character's story turning them from an ass to a reasonable ass, and Reincarnation let's you experience an even greater epilogue to the game that will leave you smiling.

However I will say that I did like the original artwork from this PC version for the base game more than the updated ones, but I'm being nitpicky as someone who experienced both.
