I just finished playing this game. Here are my thoughts:

The Story:

This is obviously a story about the gold/oil rush from the perspective of indigenous peoples from Texas and the surrounding area during the gold/oil rush era. The prelude of Act I to set up Act II was phenomenal, but I wish the Sacred Tree had more of a presence throughout Acts III and IV. The story kinda felt like it lost its way through the middle sections of the game, but brought it back just in time for the ending. 7/10

The Characters:

Teco/Tizo: Fantastic story here from start to finish. This was the only character of the three that I genuinely felt attached to while playing this game, and I wish I had more time with him. Seeing his family decimated and one of the towns he stopped by as an adult set ablaze gave the story the emotional charge it needed. I will say that his abilities felt a bit underpowered compared to the other two, but perhaps that was a learning curve that I needed to adjust to as well as him being the first character one could play as. 9/10

Itzae: To be completely honest, I don't see a reason why this character exists other than "I want to kill the Newcomers". I also didn't like how she responded in emotes and had "yas queen" responses (not saying her personality was bad overall, but these responses were certainly out of place). Sure, she fills in the void of "tank" in the party, but I never really understood why she had to be there. Even her ending was pretty uninspiring. Her gameplay was decent, if a bit on the easy side. 5/10

Chio: I definitely enjoyed Chio's personality much more than Itzae's, and her banter with her brother was a refreshing change of pace. Being able to teleport alongside Afur made for a very interesting act. However, even though there was a very emotionally charged battle at the end of act 4, her brother's sudden passing at the end felt incredibly shoehorned. 7/10

Overall: 7/10

The Battle System:

Amazing. This was a fantastic take on a turn-based strategy game. The ghosts kept me on my toes and I had to make snap-decisions in order to avoid taking damage. I didn't think many fights were unfair, per se, though my biggest troubles were against the crabs. I also wasn't aware of how short each act would be, so I tended to hoard consumables rather than breeze through them. EDIT: I also forgot to include that the AOE indicators are not a perfect match with their actual hitbox. This aggravated me on more that one occasion, and I think this should be fixed. 9/10

The Music:

Top-notch. Not much more to say here. Really loved the music that played in the Act IV fight. 10/10

The Artwork:

To be honest, I wasn't a fan of it at first, but it definitely grew on me after awhile. 8/10

All in all, I had a great time with this game, and you should definitely try it if you enjoy strategy games. It reminded me a bit of Frozen Synapse, which was a fun game to play back in the day. Overall: 8/10

This game is more than just a spooky card game. It's an experience unlike any other. Highly recommend.

"A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad." -- Shigeru Miyamoto

This game has been nothing short of a massive letdown. It was released way too early, and should have went through another phase of beta testing before release. I could deal with the questionable AI, Map Design, Unit Balance, and Enemy Balance, but the bugs in this game were too much for me to bear. Out of these bugs, the most annoying one that I have encountered was the invisible unit glitch. Sometimes, the game thinks that your unit is in another tile. If another unit is "on top", then you must move that unit first before you can move the displaced unit.

Second, my game crashed on chapter 25, while I was about halfway to 2/3rds way through the map. I was playing decently well, when one of my units hit 0 HP. This caused my game to crash, and I had to reset from the very beginning. It's not like this was a small map to deal with. I had already spent about 45 minutes slogging through it. Patiently deliberating. Making good choices. Seeing many of my units gain blessed level ups. And then it was all gone.

I am very disheartened with this game, and will most likely not ever come back to playing it. In its current state, it is not a game worth playing, if it is possible to see over an hour of your hard work be erased because the game is not stable enough to be played on.

The game was challenging and at times did feel as if it was frustrating. However, that was the premise of the game and it accomplishes its goal very well. The levels are as long as you make them out to be, and the checkpoints are somewhere in-between fair and helpful. The gameplay is solid, but the lack of ambient music makes the chicken clucking get a bit obnoxious after awhile.

Things I would like to see added are DLC skins for the chicken and egg (duck and grape please), as well as a leaderboard system to compare your horrible death count and level completion time with others.
