This game is absolutely incredible. I haven't been this immersed in anything since Red Dead 2, and writing and storytelling-wise. This game tops that. However, I cannot recommend this game because it is plagued by bugs and optimization issues. In my time so far I've ran into two bugs that made the mission I was doing unplayable. This resulted in me having to load back about 30 minutes and luckily for me it worked then. If this were to happen at an unfortunate time I could lose about an hour worth of progress, and that's just from the load, not even me having to fix the glitch. A minor thing but I also have to add that some gameplay mechanics are not well explained, and I didn't know that leveling up could get you perks until about 12 hours in.
But honestly that's not enough to warrant a negative review. But The optimization issues in this game are insane. I have a 2080 and an I-9 and an overall well-rounded PC, and I have never ever experienced a game that crashes as much as this. Not even call of duty. In my 35 hours, I've probably lost at least a dozen from crashes forcing me to load back on old saves. And yes, as I progress in the game it became easier for me to save. But it is still a constant issue, and my character has become an alcoholic from drinking Savior Schnapps (which is how you save). I play on the lowest setting possible with DLSS off, and have done just about everything you could find on Reddit to fix this issue. And yet it maintains to the point where I feel like I can no longer keep playing this game. Anytime there's more than 10 characters in the area. My game will crash. This led to it taking me about 5 hours to get through the wedding level, which should take about 45 minutes at most. It just makes it unplayable. And for that reason, I don't recommend this game. I'm waiting for the next patch which they are unfortunately releasing with a haircut update so I have to wait for that. This game could seriously be one of the greatest of all time in it's genre. But it just had a crappy launch.
