Silksong is definitely not trying to be a replacement for Hollow Knight. Silksong has lost the magic of Hollow Knight at a core level.

It's a decent platformer, but it lacks the atmosphere and nuance that made people love Hollow Knight in the first place. Exploration is interrupted with a slew of creative ways to make the game artificially difficult or artificially economically obtuse. The mystery and wonder are gone. It's an okay game, but it has no vision and feels like Nintendo and Microsoft pressured them into finishing a game they didn't want to make.
