It's Dynasty Warriors. If you've played the series before, you know what you're getting - except the combat has been tuned to feel significantly smoother. No more element management on weapons, weapon switching isn't the de-facto parry any more.

Instead, parrying is the parry. Dodging is extremely responsive, and the battle arts system lets you clear out crowds or officers in the way that best fits you. Being able to switch your weapon any time is great, and my only complaint in regards to the game is that it takes a fair while to get to the point where you unlock tactics and a larger variety of battle arts.

Story is fine, we all know the 3 Kingdoms at this point. Except this time we have short-haired griffith hallucination to spur our amnesiac character along.

Combat animations are great, although some character models leave a lot to be desired. Very K-Pop Idol for most of the male characters, with zero emotion in those faces.

As for dialogue, the bond moments are very nice - but the English text and Japanese audio setting makes some low effort localisation glaringly obvious. Meanings are conveyed, but often completely devoid of character.

All in all, fantastic crowd clearer that is very pretty and one of the most stupidly well-optimised games in recent memory. Zero frame drops with hundreds of characters on screen with a 4070. Just mostly suffers from some slow pacing.
