I feel like there are more people in these reviews claiming to have 10700Ks and RTX 3080s than there are actual RTX 3080s in the world right now. Interesting how most of the negative reviews on a game that people openly planned to review bomb are being written by people with *exactly* identical specs.

11600KF, GTX 1650, 32 GB 3200 MHz RAM in 1080p on slightly altered medium settings; turned off SSAO, motion blur, depth of field, turned shadows, water surface quality and reflection quality down to low. I'm holding 60 for the most part but drops as low as the low 40s in combat and in areas like forests. The game needs some optimisation, I won't deny it, plus I have seem some footage of it struggling on AMD CPUs in particular. I believe FromSoft need to be held accountable to fix that, but some of these reviews are very clearly dishonest.

The good:
- World design is very pretty, despite not really straying away from the usual medieval fantasy look.
- New combat systems, like summons, Ashes of War and Guard Counters, offer much more variety in combat compared to previous Soulsborne titles.
- Took a page out of Sekiro's book; stealth actually exists.
- The music is perfect for the setting. General open-world music is calming and nice to listen to while casually exploring, cave music puts you on your guard in the darkness, combat music is heavy and gets the blood pumping, boss music is epic, even for mini-bosses. Main menu music is just as loud as always.
- Strayed away from the same mistake as Dark Souls 3 by having a non-linear plot structure.
- Skyrim-tier horse physics for Torrent.
- The game is fun. That's a lot to ask for in 2022, for some reason.

The bad:
- As mentioned prior, the game is in dire need of optimisation, especially for the AMD platform due to the issues with general performance and enemies disappearing.
- KBM controls are borderline unusable, as is the case with previous FromSoft games. Unlike many reviews are claiming, it is possible to use KBM control prompts, you just need to find them in the settings as the default is controller.
- The poise system needs a lot of balancing work. Both enemies and the player can be staggered and stunlocked easily regardless of armour or size.
- I haven't been able to recreate the issue on purpose, so it seems to be random, but the animation for dismounting Torrent can sometimes result in the player getting stuck in mid-air. This can be fixed by exiting to the main menu, but I'd like a general fix for it.

Elden Ring is a good game that holds true to the idea it's been pushing since it was first teased, but it has some rough edges that, while they don't ruin the game, need to be addressed. Is it better than a game that isn't as good as the developers promised, strays from the vision they set and also has rough edges? Yes, but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem.
